is Amazon eating away the market share of other ecom sites like ebay? I have been selling on ebay for almost 3 years now and this year I am feeling the above statement is true. Sales have been down like anything. Is it better to switch over to Amazon for selling of the products ? What do you suggest guys?

July month is down for ebay for all sellers, due to some updates, ebay will be back normal in 1 -2 months.

But yes amazon leading in India, but ebay is also growing, not as comparative to amazon but market will grow and it will be more competitive.

Reason y buyer want to buy from amazon

1 hight trust on amazon.in and low trust on ebay
2 high trust on amazon fullifed products (buyer thinks they are genuine and qyality checked by amazin.)
3 Good ui as compared to ebay
4 u dnt need to hunt fror seller reviews if product is amazon fullifed
5 amazon ask seller b4 return (not sure here)

Probably because of no “new user coupons” this days https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

Actually no coupons falls comes every month for few days, july fall is specialy, as due to policy updates most sellers listing fell backwards and visibility dropped like anything, sales fell 60-70%.

My view: EBay and shopclues are sites which are seller oriented rather than handling sales themselves, which is the reason they are lacking behind the e-commerce monopolist Amazon and Flipkart in India, which is the reason they quickly arrange pickup for returned items, no refund directly. Amazon has started its base even at every local district level by their own fulfilling and courier services after its success in India https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

Appreciate your feedback guys. if coupons is one of the issue, then Amazon doesn’t offer any coupons, eccept for 5% off email coupon. I really feel that buyers can ask product related or any other concern directly from the seller on ebay. One can also choose to buy from a seller nearest to his/ her place. I totally agree with the brand image which Amazon has as compared to ebay. Also, loads of ads on other websites directing buyers to their website.

I’m an avid online shopper. I have been shopping online from last 10 years or so. During the first 4 years, it was all ebay. Used to order items like Pen drives, memory card etc online from Ebay. Then came Flipkart. I was a very loyal FK customer for almost 3-4 years, Used to place around 50-60 orders every year from FK. But FK’s policy and customer service deteriorated over time to the point that my orders with them reduced significantly. I remember Amazon came in 2013. I signed up for an account with them and never looked back. Only grey area when it comes to shopping with Amazon is shipping. ATS service is a hit or miss depending on the place you stay. I have gained a lot of respect for India post after Amazon started shipping via them. Most of my orders Shipped through India post is always delivered on time and Post man’s are much more courteous and respectful than ATS or Blue dart staff.

Coming to OP’s question. Yes, Amazon has literally decimated other ercommerce companies. FK was the poster boy of Indian Ecommerce 3 years back and look at their sorry state today. FK’s valuation is down, mass firing, unfriendly policies etc. Ebay it seems have already given up the fight. Snapdeal is trying to play second fiddle. They will be happy as long as they get a second position after Amazon.

In my opinion ebay has a niche for itself and provides a marketplace model that no other ecomm site in India provides

Ebay has always been my first love when it comes to online shopping
ebay helped me learn all the tips and tricks of online shopping

placed more orders from ebay than all others ecomm sites in India combined
