I had posted a ad for selling a cot on OLX. Within 5 minutes of going live I received 4 messages to buy. All asking for my mob. No.
On top of that 1 account whatever i message replies with the same message “send contact number”.
Is there any legit place left where i can sell my cot other than OLX?
I’m really in a hurry because of moving back home because of covid.

Fraudsters are everywhere… Telegram.. Even in dd..these are just platforms… Have been using quikr n olx from many years… Sold many things and purchased too… U just have to be aware…
Tell your city and place may be this thread help you to sell your cot.. 🤔
Olx is good if you transact carefully.
The only other alternative would be to sell to some neighbours or kabadiwala.
Those instant messages asking phone number might be scammers. They usually say this will make payment in advance and send someone to collect your item later in the day. Once you agree, they will usually send a UPI Payment Request instead of paying you. A lot of people fall for this trick.
COT matbal Bed hota hai bhai log
OP Bro – you can even try to sell on quikr if everything is ok they will pick and drop the product to buyer place and the money will be transferred online to your bank account
Only prefer face to face deals and you will be safe. OLX has become favourite spot for fraudsters. The most famous one is the false Identity fraud, the buyer or seller claims to be from Indian army to which one easily trusts hence fall prey. Search “Vikas Patel OLX” on youtube for more details.
If the buyer’s OLX account has been created few years ago the chances are better for the buyer to be genuine as OLX doesn’t delay too long to ban spam accounts.
Also, if you are in doubt ask the buyer to share his contact number first and you call them up once you finalise on the price on chat. Do not call or share number until the price is finalised else they will just waste time bargaining and finally back out.
Many buyer ask for mobile number and then start thinking if they really wan’t to buy the product or not, most of them back away eventually. From my experience with OLX I realised that if someone is really serious he will share his phone number when asked for. If he/she persists on getting your number first then tell them straight away that people just waste time asking phone numbers and if he/she is keen on finalising then share their phone number first.
Cot means bed.
Please share the pics, expected price and location.
Or even better olx ad. link
You might find a buyer here.
Olx/ Quikr etc is totally area specific. In places like Delhi, where at least a few literate and normal people live, I heard Olx is pretty good. But over here, in Calcutta and adjacent area, Olx is just a hub of cheap, fraud savages. Whatever I post, they straight up start bargaining at half the price, can’t even read an Advert. properly half of them. One such moron even called me once and threatened me after i rejected his offer, going do you know who am I and what I’m capable of doing etc.
Just look for old accounts, those are usually the genuine users, with mobile and Google account verified etc. Other than that really no one can help you here, it’s all luck. If anyone is really looking for a cot then you’ll get a buyer, but if there’s no demand then it’ll take time which you don’t seem to have. When selling something you always gotta remember, the bridge between seller and buyer has to be established, and it can only be established when the buyer actually looking for the product you are selling, that’s where the factor of luck comes in. Sometimes things get sold within hours of you’re lucky enough, but other times you might have to wait for weeks.
If anyone’s interested. Here’s the ad : I’m selling this on #OLX: Queen sized bed www.olx.in/item/queen-sized-bed-iid-1572...45
