Anyone opting for it?
What about other privileges like upi txn per month etc?
Do they charge for their DC?
And since it’s a small finance bank I’ll make sure that either I just have 0 or a very minimal amount.

I have mulitple a/cs in 4 sfb; fincare, equitas, jana and utkarsh. have been a good journey so far. recently closed jana, utkarsh and equitas as wanted to invest in falling markets and while utkarsh seems to be bit unsafe now, equitas provides no premature penalty on fd withdrawal. as for health of these banks, they may suffer some pain due to latest developments but chances of them failing is next to impossible until there is some internal fraud. jana bank doesn’t had great balance sheet when started but eventually made good use of low rate offered by big banks and built stong deposit base and also reduced npas. but going forward deposits may see fall, rise in deposit withdrawal and npa may rise (will certainly rise), so betting large amount is not advisible. they charge 295 for debit card which i somehow made them reverse, since i redeemed all fd and had requested online to close account due to lockdown and got reply that paperwork can be done later and a/c is deemed to be closed yet was charged for sms and debit card, though balance was zero so account went minus. if one is looking for online a/c fincare is better in compare to jana though au or ujjivan, being listed are safest the moment. lastly don’t just open a/c for heck of opening it as charges levied are much more than what paypal or amazon cashback could provide, in long run.

As per you which small finance bank is best & with least amount of charges? Read that Equitas gives Virtual Debit Card, so there should be no charges in it but they ask for registered aadhar mobile number using which I dont want to create account.
I want to open 1 account using my 2nd number. So, which one would you suggest?

I am new to DD, but when I see replies in this thread, I am not happy. Many folks need better financial education before commenting otherwise you end up misleading others rather than helping.

Not all small finance banks are unsafe. RBI guarantees upto Rs 5 Lakhs of deposit in a list of small finance banks including Jana. Here is the complete list: https://www.dicgc.org.in/pdf/2019/InsuredBanks/...

Now no one should try to open a savings account in Jana or similar small finance banks just for the sake of getting a debit card. Such small banks run on tight budget and do not have money to throw away in rewards etc which you can try to take benefit of. The target customers of small finance banks are different. From what I have understood so far abou them, they run on the model of offering higher interest rates to attract deposits, and then offer loans to small businesses and merchants. They work more at local level rather than national level so it is important to see if you have a branch nearby.

I am still trying to collect first hand feedback from others before I open an account. But the small finance banks like Jana are not fly-by-night banks that you guys are so scared. As I mentioned upto Rs 5 Lakh deposit is guaranteed by RBI (Modi Govt increased the limit to 5 Lakhs instead of 1 Lakh recently).
