1. The users in said areas of service can add the JioMart’s number (8850008000) on their phones, upon which they receive a link on the chat window which remains in service for 30 minutes. Using the link, the users can then place an order from the catalogue of products by filling in their address and phone number.
2. The order details are shared by JioMart with local Kirana store over WhatsApp, while the user receives the details of of the respective store, and is notified once the store bills the order. The customer then has to pick up the order from the store.
Three days after Reliance Retail signed a commercial pact with Facebook’s WhatsApp to further the reach of its online venture JioMart, the retailer went live in the suburban Mumbai areas of Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan.
Reliance’s tie up with WhatsApp means it gets direct access to WhatsApp’s user base of over 400 million.
To order from JioMart, customers need to add JioMart’s WhatsApp number 88500 08000 on their phones. JioMart sends a link to the customer’s Whatsapp chat window. The link is valid for 30 minutes. Clicking on the link directs the user to a new page wherein he has to fill his address and phone number, after which the catalogue of products is made available to order from. Products available inlcude sundry brands along with Reliance Retail’s own private labels. Once the final order is placed, it is shared with the local kirana store on WhatsApp. The customer receives a notification iwth the order and the kirana/JioMart store details on his number. The customer will also receive an alert once the kirana bills the order. Currently, the only payment option available is cash and the customer has to pickup his order from the store.
Reliance Retail Ltd, the retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd, had last December soft launched its new commerce venture named JioMart. Calling itself “Desh Ki Nayi Dukaan", JioMart is currently catering to online shoppers in the suburban Mumbai areas of Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan.

And costly too. Peanuts of 1 kg smart cost 150 around . Jiomart selling at RS.94 at 500 kilograms

I don’t think jiomart will be successful with this type of strategy cashback offers and price should be competitive otherwise people will simply buy from local shop also what is the advantage that Jio Mart is giving when compared with buying from local shops even payment method is cash

Almost everyone has phone number of 1 or 2 Local Kirana Stores. Especially after lockdown, everyone took phone numbers of all the nearby shops from which they purchase frequently.
what do they sell? also don’t like whatsapp (now under mark zuckerbug) selling us out so openly :/
What did you expect? He’s simply going to give us a free platform after buying whatsapp for 1billion $ ?
Actual plan is Whatsapp payments. It will be very good after Whatsapp payments enabled by cashback and discount offers. perfect strategy by Ambani.

What’s the concept here, they will take our details, store them, they share order details to our local kirana itself. And we should pickup the order. Lol. Name is jio mart, but their concept is like people don’t have any communication among their locals.

In most of the metro cities there is reliance retail, reliance fresh, So, it’s clear that with those kirana stores, Reliance Retail and fresh can also list their products and through this Reliance can vertically integrate their chain till the end consumer at their door steps through whatsapp.
Which areas is it serving now?
JioMart just launched its new website and started accepting orders in dozens of metro, tier 1 and tier 2 cities including Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Bokaro, Bathinda, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, and Dehradun.
Well what is the difference between ordering from whatsapp and website (jiomart.com) ?
While ordering from whatsapp we have to self collect the item from the local store. And by ordering using website they will home deliver the item ?

Website shows rs 25 delivery charge for orders below 750.

Well, they are not delivering complete items list in the order. I am still waiting for around 1K refund for the missing items. Not refunded yet. Strongly suggest not to order from JioMart.
Before Ordering, Just call their customer care number and see how soon are you able to connect with them. If your experience is good, go ahead and order. If it isn’t good, then its totally ur call.
Useless service in my area, more than 4 days and yet not delivered order. Ordered to be delivered from not even 1km away. Half of items not available.
Encourage it people. Most companies will face initial hiccups. Afte all it is our desi. Not some china based or some other.
