Our biosphere needs
The population of India is expected to exceed 200 crores by 2050 and our country will rank first in the number of people. What will be the need for clean air, clean water, clean land, and the balancing biosphere to sustain the huge population?
Suppose you can see everything—atoms, particles, energy flows…
Suppose you are standing in front of a big tree. As you can see everything, you will find coordinated life giving flows entering you in the shape of atoms, particles etc from the tree and the tree will be receiving flows from you. Continuously atoms within you leave you and new atoms take their place. The same is happening in the tree. Within one year 98 per cent of the atoms now in you leave you and new atoms take their place. You are part of the gigantic bio and other activity of nature along with the tree in front of view. The tree is a fundamental part of your being. Now in the name of development you cut the tree and replace it with a dead concrete structure. In fact you have cut a vital part of your being. You are becoming the physically, mentally and spiritually handicapped (not challenged) queer or freak. Mechanization is in fact the elimination of the biosphere. The biosphere includes you and you are making your next generation more mechanical than biospheric. You are mechanizing their biology.
Economic planning that estimates the energy needs in terms of petroleum, electricity etc and needs in terms of making money through employment in an inanimate monetized economy, propelled only by the profit motive, has actually become a euphemism for the elimination of the biosphere. Imagine a concrete topped road in the place of a beautiful garden of flower giving, fruit giving, fauna filled, wonderful and exhilarating breeze giving and wind created music giving, of streams and meadows… after totally eliminating that mini heaven. You are in fact substituting the heaven with hell and also embarking on the trends of living in that hell, the subject matter of the dismalest science—economics.
In the name of economic development, extermination camps of the biosphere are getting established at a very hectic pace. In China today, while the profit infatuated lunatics called entrepreneurs are singing praise at the great economic miracles, the individual Chinese are planning the methods of escaping from the toxic hell, filled with fumes, electronic and other industrial wastes, the dead soil filled with plastic, from the acid rains, from the totally poisoned rivers, water falls…
We need an urgent Ecological planning that trains the students understand that they are actually part of the biosphere and that they are not imprisoned in what is called their body. Life means life as biosphere itself and not as an individual separated from the biosphere. Train them to think as to what will happen when they can see everything—atoms,particles,energies flows etc,and not as individual bodies. Education without ecological awareness is the education of profit hungry perverts.
Our politicians continuously champion economic growth, which simply means the growth in various activities that destroy nature, while paying lip statements about the importance of environment. Can economic growth in a growing population; can be stopped from the disastrous slide into a gigantic abyss? Can a huge population live with the rest of the living organisms destroyed? The population explodes and nature vanishes or the huge population using the latest technologies kills the ecosphere and the biosphere, what will happen? How is employment to be generated, by obeying nature or by destroying nature? You may bluff that fake income is income and taxable income, but can you bluff that a dead and vanished tree is still a living and life giving tree? Can one organism the human, live with the biosphere destroyed?
