-Could have worked on providing housing facilities and eradicated slums

Mr Kejriwal sat on a dharna against police officers, disturbed public life and threatened to disrupt the Republic Day parade. He also staged a janata durbar to listen to and record the grievances of the people of Delhi; but he had to withdraw the theatre after one fruitless day. These were some of Mr Kejriwal’s “achievements” through which he tried to subvert the democratic process. The irony of it was that he did all this in the name of upholding democracy.
The popularity of Mr Kejriwal and his political formation, the Aam Aadmi Party, and its electoral success in the Delhi polls were symptoms of a growing urban discontent against the existing political parties and aspects of the political system. The urban population was tired of the arrogance of power, the deliberate indifference to the everyday woes that the people encountered and the growing corruption within the political class. Mr Kejriwal’s movement — it was first a movement before it had a formal entity as a political party — had its origins within Anna Hazare’s crusade against corruption. Mr Kejriwal appealed directly to the people to be masters of their own destiny and not to depend on politicians whom he saw as either inept or corrupt, and in many cases, both. There can be no doubt that his appeal touched a chord in the hearts of sections of the people of Delhi and in parts of other cities. Mr Kejriwal proved himself to be an effective agitator with a command over the sense of theatre. He promised to the people a slew of populist measures without considering their implications.
Perhaps Mr Kejriwal’s biggest miscalculation was that he did not reckon with the profound difference between being an agitator and being in government. He himself revealed this when, under stress, he described himself as an anarchist. He paid scant regard to processes of governance and of democratic polity. In his remarkable 49 days in power, he achieved precious little. He muddled his way from one mess to another. Mr Kejriwal’s experiment in Delhi has come to an abrupt end largely because of his lack of farsightedness. But what his movement, which still retains its popular charge, has done is to open up a new space in Indian politics. It is a space that the existing political parties can only ignore at their own peril. Vox populi may not be vox dei but it is a powerful and, on occasion, an overwhelming force. Mr Kejriwal has departed but the force he unleashed is here to stay.

Fact 1: Congress and BJP, on the floor of the house, officially recorded their support to JLP, if brought in constitutionally.
Fact 2: To table the bill in the assembly, you need the green from the LG AND follow the constitutional law.
Fact 3: LG clearly wrote to the Speaker of the House, which was also later READ OUT to the house that the bill cannot be tabled directly into the house. Govt cannot bulldoze its way overriding the LG’s letter.
Fact 4: Article 254: (http://indiankanoon.org/doc/1…1/) of our Constitution, Point 1 clearly mentions that in the case of repugnancy with the Centre’s passing of the bill, you can write to the President or go to the Courts.
Fact 5: Article 239 AA (http://delhiassembly.nic.in/constitut…tm) of the Constitution will enlighten you that the JLP cannot be tabled directly, without writing to the President. This was outlined by the Additional Solicitor General.
Fact 6: If you have a dispute over the above constitutional laws, amend them or challenge them in court. Else, follow the due procedure.
Fact 7: Even following the due process would have only extended the tabling of the bill by 7-10 days.
Stop being an ignoramus. Quitting “over” the JLP is gross misleading the public, thanks to emotional ignoramuses like you, who fell for the emotional appeal Arvind Kejriwal had.
Politically speaking, had AAP decided to go through the constitutional route, waited for 7-10 days and then if Cong/BJP had not supported the passing of the bill, Cong/BJP would have been exposed big time! They didn’t do that. Lastly, I would expect a referendum on exit, if i was expected to reply to a referendum on entry! and oh, did I forget that there was no FIR filed against Ms Dixit? And the reason I called this drama is the same as mentioned in below post:
AK says BJP and congress were instructed by Ambani to bring down AAP. Now that is an allegation, lets accept it for the sake of argument. How did they achieve this? Now AK, chooses a contentious way to table the bill, nobody understands the hurry!!! Even before tabling the bill and a letter from LG, he assures the media he’ll resign if the bill is not tabled!!!! Reason for choosing this contentious route is not sure!!!! If bjp and cong wanted to bring down the govt, the actual scheme of action should’ve been that both parties should have voted the bill down, later should’ve moved a “no confidence” motion, that will take a long time, even if mukesh ambani wanted to hasten!!!! But AK didn’t have the time for this gamble, i really don’t understand why Ambani should be apprehensive with just an FIR, when he would be facing legal hurdles as a daily routine!!!! Even if we believe that he is scared of janlokpal, you cannot use it in retrospect, so effectively nullify all his previous deals!!!!
As far as I think he was voted by people to run Delhi … but now it seems like his only agenda was to pass the bill … Too narrow an agenda for the ruling party of the nation’s capital
To add to this, they announced the national campaign the very next day as if they were fully prepared for it. So it was definitely a pre-planned thing to resign on that date so that they get time for national elections. Lokpal is merely a reason they searched for. Complete drama….
