Most senior dimers who used to give lots of help and tips have moved on from this site. DD used to be a different world 1-2 years back and there used to be people with lots of knowledge about diff aspects. Now its mostly abt trading for those phonepe, paytm cashbacks and useless stuff. Good suggestions are hard to come by on DD now sad

True but it should have been towards a better forum. But sadly on DD it was a negative change, not that the policies of DD was responsible. Except for few incidents involving Admins, there weren’t any bad policies to stone wall free discussions.

Don’t have in-depth knowledge on this subject but I have used both of the products. We used to have a Aquaguard machine in our rented house. It was pre-installed by our landlord and during our stay of 2.5 years, I don’t remember calling customer care once for any issue in the purifier. It just worked.

When we bought a house 6 years ago, we installed Kent purifier and since then we had to call Kent customer care at least once a year and each visit cost 2-6k rupees. Although the customer service is great with Kent but maintenance is expensive.

I can’t generalize it as it is an isolated case. You can read experience of other users on Amazon/Flipkart.

I think Aquaguard is better than kent but their maintenance cost is very high.Their spare parts are not available in market and is sold by their company only

besides the link/s someone posted above and the views on how the forum is changing,
you too have missing details in the post. how to narrow down then?
‘best’ has become a generic (meaningless?) term like ‘love/ilu’ and ‘sorry’.
you haven’t even specified at requirement (need) or desires (monetary capacity) or any exclusions: some want not electricity operated, some don’t want original dissolved minerals to be removed and thus R.O. is not for them.

most go bleating like sheep and goats wherever they are herded. meaning many here simply follow #MeToo or herd mentality.

personally, i don’t drink water from the storage type units (UV/RO), even at near relatives places, unless i’m very sure that the tanks are regularly monitored for no dust/sediment or sludge/ chiknaai . have often seen even creepy crawlies like ants finding it a cool place to resthttps://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

differentiate between “product” and “service”
sometimes local franchisee/ service partner of the brand might be good, but the solenoid valve, MPD (metaphenylene diamine) TMC (trimesoyl chloride) polysulfone (PS) membranes or the design may be substandard or fault.
-
while at other times, specific model might be good but the contracted service may just not be up to the mark.
in my view, better to do bottom up process of choosing. That is, first find out locally, from other consumers about which models they are happier witth. local technicians and shopkeepers too tend to give what they feel is honest opinion, if thy are told upfront that it is only for research. if they don’t have to sell or support a product, they are free to speak their mind.

then, depending on the requirement, (sub-soil versus municipal, pesticides mixed versus gutter. sewage mixed), decide on what type and what brand to go for.
-
brands simply change the look from the outside and keep selling the 7-8000Rs. item for 14-16000rs, depending on how many sheep/goats *as mentioned earlier) are coming their way.
recently i was interacting in this product discussion https://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-onlin...

and also, like our @esteemed Dimer above, searched around here to find few links of similar discussions
He mentioned Dolphin https://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online/top... in so far as I know, in the regions that they operate, Dolphin provide some of the best (technology, quality) water purifiers for Indian conditions.
They use better cartridges/membranes and the technology is researched and built on B.A.R.C. research.

Go for this model :
https://www.amazon.in/Eureka-Forbes-Aquaguard-S...

I got it for 12k 1 year back..its Best in market

is the contracted service in your area/locality by company employees/staff or third party franchise (“authorised” service blah blah)?

if direct company person (high;y unlikely) , what on an average is the age of the person/s who visit for service?

is it out of the (free/included) service contract yet? what are the charges for a two year or three year extension (purchased) of contract on this? (assuming they do 3 year contract on this model).
On other models, Eureka Forbes does commit to/sell two year, three year AMC.

1 year warranty, 3 free service by Company Aquaguard
Didn’t have AMC.
Filter change depends on usage of water in litres.

come on man, even Apple products get repaired and service. that too software part laughing ..without Apple Inc. helping.

you underplaying ‘the great Indian jugaad’ aka Bhartiya ingenuity, mentality.

depends from model to model or part to part.
solenoid valves (that i’ve seen. on their three different models) are worse than or similar to Chinese after market (O.E.M.) spares.

for activated charcoal, carbon, there isn’t any real distinction in market.
the pre-filter/ sediment cartridge and membrane cartridge (for RO) is the only major consumable companies can squeeze, by having unique size and dimensions.

but often times, families (especially women) are resourceful enough to ask the technician of Brand A. to source the cartridge of Brand B and vice versa laughing and then play the ‘kya bhaiya/beta.. humse itna charge loge’ card!
internal rates for the service centre is the rate at which these ‘technician’ kids pick stuff up and one family i know, has NEVER done official AMC with brand after warranty.. All their warranty is handled by ‘kya bta ab mujh boodhi aurat sei itne paise lega’ aunty

only some of the newer, fancier (useless) models of Eureka Forbes develop PCB snags, so that is the only propitiatory part. (in some models even a conked of ON/OFF switch or just a faulty flow selector requires changing the complete panel

thanks.
yes i know the (standard) contract. (that comes with the purchase).

since you mentioned that it has been a year since using it, if you are (by now) aware of the paid contract charges.
the rate went up in April or so, i’m told.

also, in newer models, the experience, training of the person matters.
sometimes older people cannot really understand or do things right
in others, someone with just 2-3 years hands-on experience isn’t enough.
THAT is why i asked, if in your area 9which?city) they’ve their own centre or s/he comes from a franchise.
[obviously even the third party franchisee too introduces themselves as ‘Aqua Guard’. one has to know or ask if s/he is directly from Co.]

Yes few technician do not know how to adjust TDS also.
But after calling his Manger, technician was able to fix it.
As it is over 2 year old model, mostly must have experience now
Didn’t inquire about AMC charges.

God! feel sorry for that (your experience).

meaning either you got a lemon or that model in general and the service/ parts you received were not worthy.

means the company extracted or somehow you ended up paying 1-1.5X more than the original investment/purchase value.
i wonder, exactly which honourable Kent model it was! Although the whole brand is a hopeless bundle of faff.
their ‘strategy’ hinged on using (then) Rajya Sabha member Hema amma to push for countervailing duty reduction on their machinery imports. kits and less local taxes. used the same Hema with the lying, misinformation campaign ‘duniya ka sabse shudh’ which came under fire from ASCI.
