Laptop LED blinking not switching On. Tried all the desi fundas I knew, please provide some tricks you know so that I need not visit a service centre
Pay attention to the rhythm of its blinking.
An error code might be encoded with a series of short and long pulses.
You should lookup the manual for your model for the observed blinking pattern.
Could be something easy to fix like RAM not seated properly in its slots, if you are lucky.
Online forums specific to your device would be your best resource.
Remove the charger and battery from laptop
press the power button for around 20 secs
again put the charger and battery
press the power button again to start
@saymyname Do what nofpd suggested. If that does not work out go along with umarkumar’s suggestion. HP laptops blink in specific patterns after POST which correspond to certain error codes. You might even try to boot into any Linux LiveCD of your choice to rule out hardware failure in particular HDD.

Have already all the things mentioned by others. There is no pattern, the LEDs bilnk at an interval of 5 secs and the Caps Lock Led blinks at an interval of 1 min.
Cc: @no fpd @umarkumar
This all happens when you open the laptop n you have not fixed all components n back cover properly. RE open the components that you had open n remix it properly .. .tight all screw properly n it’s done. .

Does not look good. CAPS Lock LED blinking all pertain to hardware failure. @saymyname It might be the CPU. If that indeed is the case if its socketed you might be able to get a used CPU for relatively cheap from ebay USA since your laptop is old. If OTOH its soldered…

I had checked the blink codes but nothing been mentioned about such a pattern and it is the same pattern which has been there since past 6 months but holding power key for 20-30 seconds solved the purpose in some cases just reinserting the RAM but none of those working now. I guess going to service centre would be the best thing to do in this case

Yes. Oh and to exemplify how easy it is to install Puppy I will recommend a visit here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61... Puppy will be installed in a folder in your Windows partition. Installation/Uninstallation takes mere seconds. No messing abt with Partition tables or Boot loaders etc.
Edit: I am afraid you just might have made the situation worse by not seeking qualified help all this time. I should know since I broke my monitor hinge by ignoring to properly seat the video cable for years.
Better have it check once with customer care center than regretting later!!!
@saymyname which brand which model . Dont have much knowledge about lappys in general so it would be helpful before i can comment somethjing

Some problem with motherboard Will get to know tomorrow how much to spend
So HP laptops not just cheap out on the outsides, it’s insides are shit too. As per the solution provided on the HP forum, it’s just a loose solder which once located correctly can be fixed in matter of minutes.
@saymyname Try the good old method, give your laptop a few good bashings & it might work. Who knows?
In our office, one of our manager does the same thing to his computer when it’s not working properly.

Hp g6-2221TU, last event occurred was some update(I did update and shut down) and after that it is not booting only LEDs blinking.
Got the same problem with my HP Laptop..The shop guy told that it was some motherboard fault…It took many days for me to find the solution but for me the following was the solution.
1- Switch on the laptop while charging on and it starts up after some time ranging between 5 minutes to 30 minutes.
2- If it starts up by itself in some time then from next time dont power on the laptop but just keep it on charging for about 20 minutes.
3- After that the moment you press Power key it starts.
4- After that you can disconnect the supply but lappy keeps on running…shut down the laptop for some time and the laptop yet starts without supply
5- BUT, if you switch off the laptop or make it sleep for a longer time, then repeat from process 2.
Note- I have been using in this way from past 2 months but these days I figure that lappy has started to start by itself but gives some continuous beeping sound for some seconds ( some hardware error) but you can ignore.
Please write back to me if the process works for you

True, none of my friends faced such issues with their dell laptop with i3 chip and evn they played cs,cod, nfs. I just used to browse net and watch movies

Sh!t this thing did not occur to me, switching it on after charging it for some time but I think I must have tried that though unknowingly since I kept it on charge for quite some time. the first time this issue occurred I slept from the frustration of not being able to get it started, after 3-4 hrs I woke from the noise of the fan of laptop Flipped the screen, opened it after 15 mins everything was normal then, continued to run it without shutting down for more than a month, I was afraid that it won’t start again if I shut it down
Regarding the laptop he opened it in front of me and the fan was not running, it just started and then stopped, after removing all other components so definitely something wrong with the motherboard. Will update.
P.S. It’s a 3.5 yr old laptop, the RAM has been changed twice ( once in warranty and once after warranty) the hinges have been fixed once so total I hv spent around 7k on the laptop as of now any suggestions as to what is limit I should set to spend this time, (I strongly feel that even after this repair the laptop will again have a problem). The same thing happened in my lappy….when you switched on the lappy the power button blinked, fans rotated for about two seconds, HDD led blinked once and then it all went silence
After about 3-4 seconds again the whole process repeated
Sorry couldnt help you earlier since read this thread just now

From your description and at the HP forum it might be problem with dust in the cpu fan.
Install
http://openhardwaremonitor.org/files/openhardwa...
Notice the temp after a few minutes. DOn’t close the software. Keep the laptop running and notice the temp and report back.

I have seen and used, of friends, three HP laptops till now and all had some minor hardware problems such as these.
HP’s motherboards are the worst. The closest pattern that I have been able to find till date is that all of them gave problem when it rained heavily for many days….that is due to moisture.
Once the weather turns fine they also start working fine…I am not joking but am damn SERIOUS

No problem with fan bro…opened the whole fan, cleaned with blower…reinserted and started but the problem persists
I have to concur with Thrifty regarding HP’s shoddiness. They never bothered to fix a basic design flaw which led to to video cable being gradually unseated after a year or so of normal usage as the hinge mechanism impinged on the cable while closing it. The flaw spanned several generations! Folks in the US were bringing abt a class-action suit against HP. No such luck here. Anyways cant really complain as the laptop will begin its 9th year in 10 days time. Will have to use for another ~2 years. No other problem whatsoever.

Maybe problem is with this particular model. It happens with every brand doesn’t matter how much big it is. We can take example of I phone 6 plus band check Unbox Therapy’s video here:
or you can check any other news/videos.or recent Samsung galaxy note 7 blast http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
Lenovo has real design fault with the Lenovo G570 and some similar series laptop. My neighbour has one. (bought from usa) I went to repair it. Repairer told me that may lenovo laptop models have this issue. He even showed me broken part of this kind of at least 6-7 laptops, which he repaired recently. And this is just one shop. Imagine how many shop repaired how many such laptops. Just see result of this search: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Lenovo+G570...ge
I respect your or others views but personally my experience with HP laptop is very good. You can find my and @Spock bhai’s views on this here: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
and here: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
@parthponkiya8
Read the comments above. Those are real life experiences and just not from one model. I have been warning people about HP and Lenovo. I own a Lenovo too and like the OP this piece of shit has engulfed much more money than I saved and my peace of mind. I wouldn’t buy anything from Lenovo. Sadly, they bought my fav mobile brand too (motorola).
After years of usage and consideration I would only recommend Dell (even if you have to pay a little more, coz in the long run it will be cheaper). Asus comes second. Rest have pathetic after sales.
Please Add whatever you know. Sorry for not making a proper thread but I am not very organized but the problem.is for real so any info needed please tag.
