So for a month, I noticed a thin dark brown line in the middle of my laptop screen. At first I ignored but slowly it grew thicker and longer !
Saw some suggestions on net and thought they were dead pixels but then I took my laptop to a repair centre and unfortunately the trusted person I knew has retired.
These new guys were smirking on the side when they said the price to fix it is 12-15k !
My laptop costed only 25k 5 years ago (toshiba satellite model). I feel like they’re trying to fleece me.
Can anyone here quote the actual price for something like this problem?

Buy from local market and get it replaced cost 2-3k which will be oem part, however if you go for original it will vost 7-9k

Could you tell what is this problem and how it occurred? I always kept my laptop carefully and never took it during travels for fearing of bumping it somewhere pensive

If it’s “paper LED” then 1.4k for 14 inch and 1.7k for 15.6 inch HD screen

I really don’t know much stuff about electronics, mine is 15.6 inch screen but don’t know if it’s HD or not, don’t even have the papers that came with it as warranty period is over 2 years ago worried

don’t be in a hurry to replace your screen sometimes these lines (stuck pixels) start appearing randomly and then disappear on their own after a while …wouldn’t hurt to update graphics driver and hope for the best wink

also try connecting an external monitor to your laptop and see if the line appears on the monitor as well…assuming it’s a hardware issue with either the screen or graphics card this will help isolate which is at fault

Thanks! I’ll check it out tomorrow
