Hello Dimers,
I’m from a village of West Bengal,
Recently I’m facing an issue regarding a liquor shop.
A person has obtained licence from excise department to open a liquor shop just infront of our home (5-10m away).
If it opens there will be huge problem.Our whole locality will be spoiled.
Moreover I’m curious how the person got licence as NH6 is within 10 meters and locality too…
Please suggest me steps to oppose the establishent of liquor shop.

Madam ji. There is already a law. If people vote out in a majority to ban any liquor shop, then we don’t need ngos. Voting matters not assistance from NGOs. And this rules India not just UP.

If the Liquor shop owner has local TMC guys support then it is almost impossible to stop them. Most of them are Jhor-Police(some sort of police, who get 5k per month).
Your thought is 100% true if it was created few years ago .
But OP, now you have still some 10% chances to stop that without involving yourself .
As you’re not only one who’s facing this problem .
Create a twitter handle.
Based on your map, can guess minimum 150 persons will be there in residential area .
Collect theirs contact no. By crowdsourcing .
Request them to make atleast 2 acc. Per person in home .
By that you can get easily 500+ retweets including your family contacts and friends contacts.
numbers will attract more numbers.
Use your mind to get more exposure , contact local news paper , online news portal like lallantop , mint ,..
I don’t know it will work or not , but nothing to lost. atleast you will get a new experience . May be you become hero in your society , may we all can get your real name in newpaper

You guessed it right…..That’s the problem here…. the shop owner is a TMC leader.
Involve media.. multiple of them.. tag in BJP guys.. both together will solve the problem for you coz of their hate for TMC

2 years back, this was a problem in UP as well. So people and NGOs came together, used women of the Local area as the front cover up and destroyed the shops in many areas of UP. It was very effective strategy that worked out. Try to use this as an example and work out with any reputed NGO in your area that works for anti-alcohol honestly.
