My friend is looking for a couple of interns to execute some ideas based on MEAN stack and its associated components here in bangalore.

he is interested in picking up some MCA students or BTech students who want to undergo industrial training/internship for 6 months as part of their curriculum. He is also open to freshers (who dont have a job and want to gain experience) for at least 6 months of interning.

The members will be trained / coached / supported to learn the needed technologies. There is no stipend initially as they wont be delivering any output. Once they are productive, they may be offered a suitable stipend for their deliverables. They will receive the relavant experience certificates/training certificate for the participating duration through their founding company.

He is explicitly looking for full time local presence (hence remote / wfh options or part time options will not be available).

If you know of any deserving candidates for this programming internship, do let me know by messaging me here.

If you have any recommendations/suggestions or options to reach out to right audience, let me know as well.

LOL students are paying 10-30k from their pockets for internship in Pvt institutes.

If they are productive, they obviously will get stipend. No company will pay for training the interns (unless they are charitable or a large institution).

My friend takes these trainees just to train them and make them prepared for the industry requirements – not for personal gain alone. If they pick up well and can prove themselves on their skills, they get absorbed immediately within his company or with his contacts. My cousin (who could not get selected anywhere after spending 1 year of job hunting in MNCs and saying he will do GATE/GRE etc) joined and within 2 months got placed in a start-up of his friend for 12k salary (less compared to biggies, but something better than nothing). He is still cribbing about MNC etc, but is very happy on the learning front – working on react.js and Android app (hybrid) right now.. wants to change for higher salary but I am telling him to stay for 1 yr atl

Btw we never bother to even interview off-campus freshers (esp pre 2016 passouts) just because it is a waste of time.

Attitude of freshers nowadays is more oriented towards money than skills (unlike earlier when I was one). Questions we get are
- how much is my take home salary
- do you provide lunch and transport
- any on-site opportunities
Instead of
- what will I work on? Learning opportunities? Trainings provided

This is spoiling our youth IMO.

Btw every one shd watch:

One thing I marked is you used the word we now that means it’s your startup as well and as it’s quite new(my obvious guess) you’re planning to get some interns who will work for you for Free and about the duration 6 months with nil pay is utter waste as they can learn those programming by sitting at home also.
Not sure about programming language so tagging @getready to give insight about above mentioned subject by OP.

Moreover no one pays 20-30k to do internship they pay maximum of 4-5k considering the company being reputed organization which is leading in the respective field(no one will pay single penny to join an internship in startup).

This is only my opinion on this 😇😇😎😉😉

i am currently working in a mnc in support job [ i guess you know what kind of a work we do in support https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif]
i want to switch to app development [especially software development ] and I am trying to learn mean stack from freecodecamp and ada and ds from geekforgeeks
would have quit my job and started working for you only if I had the balls and no money constraints https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

btw a friend in desperate need of a job would be ready to relocate to Banglore if you are ready to pay something as low as 6k per month

I have crossed the lower rungs in the organization now, and do not code any more. I too always think of learning some new stuff online during my available time, subscribe to various courses, but never complete it.. guess it is our comfort zone which makes us lazy https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif Quitting job and following your passion is a good idea if you are secure on all fronts (which is rarely the case) or you are a daredevil. I personally would not suggest that to you (or just anyone unless I know about their personal backgrounds – home, finances etc you know) even though the above mentioned internship is exactly for ones who want to get into current generation software development (not just the programming language we learn in college)..

you still have options.. look out for weekend groups (on meetup) who get together to learn & discuss new stuff.. not sure if it happens here in India, but we used to have such meetups (with pizza lunch on Saturdays) when I was working else where https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

Regarding your friend who is in need of a job, I can check with friend if he wants to consider him for any paid position. Can you share his resume? Ping me on chat here for further follow-up.

I agree with @dealshunter on most of the points.

Web Development has become one the most sought of career choice for not only the computer science students but also among non-computing backgrounds. It is also due to the rise of jobs in the industry as Front-end Developers, NodeJS Developers and MEAN Stack Developers. Most of the companies and startups are hiring in this domain are looking for trained and skilled professionals who can actually build and develop the system for them.

OP Already mentioned that they need MCA students or BTech students who want to undergo industrial training/internship for 6 months as part of their curriculum , they are open to freshers and thats a good thing, because instead of wasting time for Job-hunt, go for some industry level Training and get skilled. The training these guys are goin to give, will cost more than 5K and we all know only few Institutes are worth to pay for training.

Untill you are dedicated enough to Learn something your own, you cant learn just by sitting at home.
If someone already skilled in something, will train you, then You will learn more quickly compare to learning same thing your own.

In case of S/W Industry, You cant clear your interviews with Theoretical Knowledge from Youtube channels or online Learning Websites. You need Live projects to enhance your skills.

In my point of view, Go for the training these guys are providing , if ….

1: You are a fresher, done with your Course and looking for job.
2: You are in 3rd OR 4th Year of your course (In case of MCA/B.Tech respectively)
3: You already wasted few months in Job-Hunting

The thing is : You are not Working FREE for them, Actually, They are giving this Training Free to you Its all about your perspective

Usual trend nowadays
Come and work for me without a single penny for 6 months and then we will see what to do about it
After 6 months – either startup is over or trainee doesn’t meet expectations
Why do favor to people by training them if not getting any productivity in return?
There is a reason to define stipend and salary separately

Not commenting about the start up related to OP/friends but it is not as simple as ‘free training’. Many a times they won’t even let you go through the proper corporate grinding and keep you limited for the peripheral/trivial work they had in mind when they recruited. Not saying that everyone are like that but have seen many such instances because there are a lot of jobless engineers available. Some even pay 5-10k for doing this work and at the end there will be no value addition. So telling people just the one side of the story would be a farce.

I guess this thread includes both sides of this ‘free internship’ industry and always should make an informed decision which would be known within a a couple of weeks. Also they should be aware of the possible scams people try to do in the name of training and assured placements.

Edit- In fact my cousin’s husband did something like that and I had referred a couple of my juniors for that. They told me what was happening and I myself told them to leave it silently. From then on I never refer anyone to such startups (I have no way of knowing they are good or bad)
