i avoid products at mrp
Dmart 300 grams colgate max fresh : Rs.118

ok
Compare the prices in packaging.
Dettol soap me 103 poore set ka price hai. 4 soaps ka..
At least you found something for people to see. I had mentioned in various places about it but never bothered to give such proof. They are pricing larger quantities more so that online retailers, big malls can give ‘big’ discounts on them and people will buy them happily. Most of these big products are always sold at ‘big’ discount.
No one is bothered
Online stores ki band bajao
Horlicks also… I imagined I was crazy.. Bru Coffee..
Horlicks is rarely sold at discount. or maybe 5%..
I knew this long back when I was comparing shampoo prices. Its open loot for the companies. But good to see a post about it.
small quantity product quality is worst as compared with big quantity because it is for lower income groups
Nothing like this
yes earlier the big quanties product are cheaper but now the things are changed ..they hike price and give discount on it and we buy seeing wow so much discount.
Tata tea elachi -250 gm costs -65 1kg pack costs nearly 400
.
sometimes small things give you great joy
Bournvita 75g pouch for 30
Bournvita 200g Jar for 107
.
compared to pouch price it should be 80, that means 27 extra for the Jar.
that’s the clear logic that avoids everyone even well-educated persons.
Why a powder making company will give you plastic(earlier glass) jars for free
NOTHING IS FREE, we are well paying for everything indirectly/directly
Surf excel 90g – Rs.10 , 3kg – Rs.360
What is loot here?
Pricing has a very close relation to Supply + Demand
Compared to those mini sachets, people prefer to purchase the bigger pouches / jars / bottles often so the higher price
And for new customers, these small size packets act as sample packs so that they can try n make bigger purchases in the future
Also like someone mentioned above, the prices are exaggerated often for bigger packs & plastic / glass jars too adding extra cost to the product price
+ This happens with everywhere that involves selling of goods/services
It’s loot if market is under wrong impression. If all buyers know of it, it’s free market under demand and supply regime. However, if it’s not known to all it’s loot.
Great post but the title is misleading & the text formatting is hideous. Can the mods do something?
Whats misleading dear
Thats why i only buy 2rs nescafe pack….1 at a time…..bigger jar is 3x costly
For thinkers like above , kindly try to see the pricing of 750 ml, 1 kg , 1.5 kg , 2 kg. in many products
Detergents
Soaps
Oils
And many more.
Still this thing is continued
Yes noticed Few Days Ago When Bought Happy Happy Biscuit Pack Of MRP 100 @ Rs.50, When Compared I Concluded that the Real MRP Should Be Rs.60 after counting the total number of biscuits in Rs.5 Pack & Rs.100 Pack
Biggest loot is in shampoo.
5ml cost Rs 1 but 1000L cost 600 instead of 200
I have obsered that quality of shampoo in pouch is very different than bottle for same brand.
Interesting thread. But understand the rationale here:
1. Small size items are meant to experiential purchase and/or bringing in more adopters. Some of the comments about quality of small size products are unwarranted.
2. Small size items are generally sold through small trade with minimal margins for the end retailer.
3. Large packs have additional overhead of packaging and transportation.
4. Large packs items are sold through modern retail with margins for everyone in the ecosystem.
Check this out Surf Excel Quick Wash Detergent Powder, 2 kg https://www.bigbasket.com/pd/40001002/surf-exce...
1 kg cost MRP 210
2 Kg cost MRP 450
So justifying smaller packs are inferior quality or are for lower income groups so substandard blah blah …. is not wise
There are many products in this weight packaging also.
Also, i have noticed these 10 rupees , 20 rupees packs are targeted for village and town areas, they are priced lower on purpose.
+1, same goes with kellogs cornflakes and chocos
