they declare the timeliness well in advance.
check this PDF for instance, https://d0.awsstatic.com/whitepapers/Windows-Server-2003-end-of-support-AppZero.pdf i think gives well over a decade of timelines for some of the then popular version/s. (haven’t checked the actual PDF lately, but it/link was saved in some csv)

their operating systems (at-least Enterprise solutions) often have the option of availing (paid) extended support (when most free retail updates stop).

Nope. As per Microsoft, Windows 10 is the last version of the Windows.
They will keep on providing security updates and new features but name of the version will not change.
