Wanted to highlight the wrong things Mobikwik is doing with us.

Fortunately, my MobiKwik wallet balance is usually just petty cash of 50s and 60s I get from their cashback offers, but I’ll certainly be more cautious even with that and certainly not use it for larger denominations. “Forewarned is forearmed”, as they say.

MobiKwik seems to be the most careless and least trust-worthy of e-Wallet sites.

Sad to see your ordeal.
But there are some things that raise questions.
1. All transactions via MobiKwik now are carried via OTP and this is only optional if you know the “trick” [which is something not out of the box]

2. When you already knew that you can access someone’s account or vice versa, you should’ve already been on epinephrine of your senses and flush out all the cash in that disputed account. You can use multiple MobiKwik accounts on the same phone, its strange you don’t know that. Just don’t loot their offers in same phone. Logging in it is absolutely fine.

3. You said you can access the other person’s account using your phone and I’m assuming that you punched in your own pass and email for that and you saw what? Your balance or some other balance?

In matters of money always be 4 steps ahead in thinking is all I want to say. Whenever you see a red flag, change everything or at the least debit your balances.
A little common sense goes long way.

Appreciate your insights.

1. I didn’t know the trick. I thought all transactions were carried via OTP and considered them secure.

2. I could have “flushed out all the cash” – but ethics came into play. I didn’t want to use someone else’s money. And yes, we can have multiple Mobikwik accounts – but as you can see in my next point, my account was “hidden” and someone else’s was shown during checkout. That was utterly surprising.

3. On the website – I was able to access my wallet. On the phone – I wasn’t. And this isn’t a used / second hand phone. It was a new Android phone that never had any Mobikwik app installed. And note that this happens randomly.

Sometimes it showed my account – sometimes the other guy’s account.

In fact, during Grofers transaction, I saw his email ID (which I mentioned in the article), there were Rs. 100 wallet balance and his credit card details. It was surprising at first.

And then, I also received several American Swan, Trendsutra, etc. transaction SMSes on my phone. Clearly – NO ONE is using my phone or password (my balance was intact).

It has something to do with how Mobikwik works.

When this week they decided to block other account – the other person might have lost his account, which logically means he gained access to my account and used up all the money possible.

I wonder how could anyone register account using my phone number. And how could Mobikwik allow two account reg. with a single phone number (that is not possible, right)? In any case, this matter should have been solved.

Instead – they decide to ignore and I am going to move on, leaving this post open to the public.

It was interesting to read about your blog and your success stories. For a moment i firget about this thread totally. Hats off to you for your achievement. Even i wanted to be a blogger and started my own blog thinktechonline.blogspot.com by purchasing a domain in 2012. But couldn’t get enough time for it and then my domain expired and i left it completely.

User side protection. Hmmmm… SBI, PNB all govt. banks atleast, where we keep more amount of money other than any so called e-wallets, what about their “User side protection”? Daily, so many accounts get hacked by just calling the customer, atleast these wallets are less prone to such attacks.

Invest 2-3 hours in reading – as that is what expands your thoughts.

Neoman was the first one to point out weakness in the mobik. system due to absence of https in the url.

If U had taken prior steps regarding this,ie, when u got that sms regarding purchases that didn’t done by U,
the waste scenario could have been avoided

….When a fraud of 1611 rs happened in my account…I talked to the police dept. and they told me that Mobikwik and paytm employees are doing this to their own customers….

Before reporting this incident via Medium, I talked to Mobikwik. They were ignorant about this, then I saw many were facing similar issues. Money was deducted without prior notification.

All their voices are combined in that article.

The best part is u wud have recorded one video of the account part and posted openly.

And In previous RDt RMA bibin sing (ceo) had quoted that changing email id is not possible on mobikwik.
In your issue you got sms regarding purchases.Did u get any emails for the same?

I had also experienced bad treatment from mobiKwik’s part.
There was some “SOUTH STRIKE GOLD” offer (MobiKwik had changed my primary number to some other number to reject my claim) & Shopclues cashback were taken back..

Lots of issues & problems likes that.I don’t know whether they will grow or not.I just don’t care.
Now my usage pattern is like if there is some offer I would add cash and utilize the same within a day or two.
