That is sad to hear op that you lost a loving pet. You know right after reading this thread I went to my hall to see my dog and he was just rolling in his bed with his front feet on his head like that monkey of Mahatama Gandhi (Bura na suno).
I can understand that you are emotional and loved your pet very much but don’t lose your sanity too. Remember one thing that there are many dogs which are homeless. Why not to adopt another puppy and give life to a homeless and feared dog. I would call you a superstitious person who doesn’t have any logic behind such thoughts. If you really loved your pet so much then give life to another pet instead of wasting money in havan and pooja. That will be the real tribute to your dog.
Edit: Have a Saint Bernard of 65Kg (18 months older at home).
Edit1: Bhagwan ko dil se yaad karte h na ke PUNDITJI ke through. God does not have any middleman.

Giving one and final warning… Such insensitive comments won’t be allowed.
Apologies @hps21 for some of the insensitive comments here…
I really felt so bad today after reading this comment of yours. I did feel it because I never expected such kind of comments from you either. You are more responsible than @thrifty_indian because he is just a member of the forum. You were not supposed to insult him in the public with such a warning. Instead you could have asked him on first place that why did he comment that way.
This way you are telling the people that you can kick out their a**ses anytime you wish to. Please don’t take my comment in a bad way. He has been a member from very long. I understand the way he wrote the comment but that no where meant that you would just threaten him to throw out.
Edit: With great power, comes great responsibility.

@thrifty_indian He is (unfortunately) right in this case.
Even I was wondering in what context you wrote that there. It would have been better if you had thrashed his superstitious behaviour instead of bluntly asking him why he was still alive. It didn’t certainly convey the message you wanted to.

Guess that comment by that savage lunatic enraged everyone and we couldn’t help seeing all negative comments in that background. Anyway, I think things are more clear now.

He’s already been shut up. Calm down!
Religion (pooja, havan etc) and superstition are 2 different things. Please don’t look everything religious as superstitious. Superstition is ill, being religious is not. Moreover we have a lot of others things we need to fight for and discourage them.

It’s called mockery. I understand that not many get it. But where in that sentence does it incline towards his pet? It was direct and blunt to the OP. I didn’t mention his pet even once.

I am trying to wrap up this chapter here.
What do you call wasting eatables and others good resources in a country laden by poverty and with a rapidly degrading means?

Agreed. But doing it for a dead dog! That was a bit off the limits. I don’t think any poojari will even consent to it however loving OP may be towards his pet. May agree if the poojari is desperate for money.
That’s why most of us suggested him to keep his pet in his memories instead.
And @bk08 from your deleted/altered comment I sense you have some gripe with me. I suggest you solve it out in PM with me. Don’t keep it. It leads to some ugly moronic misadventures later(refer: my dirty outburst with a moron a couple of months earlier)

All religious activities need not be a wastage. Even I despise wastage of food and always try to avoid it. We always try to go behind trivial things as this instead of the larger issues like corruption etc (the list is long and all of us know it) because we don’t have the balls to go up against people who do it.

Exactly! It’s just a case of misunderstanding. But things are in a better perspective now.
BTW, you need to learn to mock better.

1. Calling it trivial is gross misconception.
2. “don’t have the balls to go up against people who do it”

Yeah I wanted to write about the poojari thing and doing that pooja (in fact I wrote and even deleted). Stopped myself from posting because I felt that OP might be too emotional now and might have felt that doing such things would do something better to his dog. When he comes out of his grief he sure will know what was the right thing

Exactly why I didn’t write about it as well in my first post. But after the turn of events, I had to.

Not really, its in fact trivial because of we stopping certain no of people (I really doubt if we can even do it) doesn’t automatically translate to a greater benefit (these people of course won’t go spend it on some poor when they are ready to burn their money on such things).
I didn’t say you (I said “us” which includes most of us and maybe not you but I don’t know), and all of use can be keyboard warriors. You have nothing to lose here and balls matter in places where we might stand to lose and still go up against it.
Edit- By the way I don’t mean to say what you are trying to do is anything small but then again mixing up too many things and against one’s belief is also not the right thing.

I have just done with BK08. Will get back to you later when I can.
@thrifty_indian chill bro … good n8 ….
but agli baar @bk08 se jab bhidoge …. toh koi body builder type dp lagake aana …. uska dekho serious wala dp …..
edit: @Alpha.Barood bro look … dono ko 1 he post pe chipka diya …. 1. torrent ka pehredaar 2sra from anti hawan corporation …. ..
good n8 guys
So hawan poojas are now part of superstition !! and few ppl are agreed to this !!
But in the name of religion more worse acts are done than this non harmful act . and being a petlover for years , any human (from inside too) will get attached with his pets and when it dies it gives pain too much . and even in foreign rituals are done by pet owners , but that is modernization but if we do here it is superstition .
Now tell me if I having pet from many years , playing with him like best Friend , getting unconditional love , but one day he dies , so I call MCD van and ask them to take that and bury/throw anywhere ??
Few days back some guys were burning little puppies just for fun and that time too few ppl were saying why caring for just dogs so much !
And 1 thing which I am unable to understand , in each n every issue why you ppl bring poverty/rapes/type big issues , bcoz if any thing happens then ppl will come and say first give attention to poverty corruption type issues .
And FYI , only those people fall in superstition who have no firm believe in their God .
Dear OP, just remember: Time is a great healer.

Well said. I also wanted to mention it. Dealing with grief is a multi-step process. You can’t really accelerate the process or subside the grief by things like Hawan or Pooja. But since OP seems like a religious person, I can understand how such things might provide a temporary distraction and hence relief.

Exactly. That’s precisely what @thrifty_indian called superstitious and did not want to encourage.
But yes, this is very complex to be plainly rejected or accepted.
@oneidentity
i have edited / deleted my comments , i was wrong to bring that issue in this case , apologies . But it was in reply to the question asked by thrifty .
