I was sitting with my friend and he noticed that My Jio app is saving your PayTM details without your confirmation (which is a fraud).

Do a recharge on MyJio app and select PayTm as mode of payment, it will ask for mobile no and OTP to authorize the transaction. But if you again try to make a payment, then PayTM is already listed in approved payment list (will display your paytm balance).
This is like saving credit card details without customer consent. rage rage

I made payment using Paytm as if I do on all other websites and assume that I am authorizing only for this transaction (not for all future transactions).

Then I went to my Paytm account and found that MyJio app is listed there is approved merchants for auto-deduction of any transaction (which I obviously removed immediately)

This is a fraud and clear violation of RBI guidelines. Recently Airtel Payment Bank was fined for saving customer details without consent during adhaar verification.

Never expected this fraud and cheating by Mukesh Ambani imp imp

Did anybody else faced this issue?

How is this a fraud? They are not stealing/deducting wallet balance without your confirmation.
I think you haven’t used apps like swiggy, tapzo.

Other apps take your authorization to save paytm details, it is clearly displayed when you first time link app with paytm account.
I have tried in Uber and they clearly say “link Uber wih Paytm”.

However in this case, it is one time payment for that particular transaction. They never mentioned about linking MyJio with Paytm.

Infact same is case with Grofers, it also do not link Grofers with Paytm (on paytm account, i never see grofers as authorized list of merchant).

However in MyJio app, it will show your Paytm balance (because they have linked MyJio with Paytm) without informing us. This is fraud

You are not understanding the issue. Providing free service is separate thing.

But saving your card details or linking with your wallet without taking consent is a fraud.

In Paytm app go to
Profile → Linked Apps and Subscriptions → Apps linked with Paytm wallet
Here delete the jio app.

you mentioned this thing 4 times ,
grofers , freshmenu and many other apps save paytm details once you pay with paytm , they also dont mention that it will be saved for future purpose .

and itna hi fraud h to dont use jio services or my jio app and use airtel and other services .

…….

moral of the story – kitna bhi fayda kar do kisi ka , last me koi na koi blame to laga hi denge log ..

@worldindia2000 bro you are talking too sensible and technical for a crowd who gives a damn about privacy. Take this on twitter or reddit for some sensible response. Some general knowlegde for the ignorants: Be it grofers, swiggy, freshmenu or tapzo, they all either have a push button/checkbox to allow saving the details by default for future transactions (checked default) or have the same mentioned in their terms of sevice.

You haven’t used Amazon ever ? They won’t take or ask your consent to save payment details.
Once you use a card (on amazon.in / amazon.com / Amazon.fr / Amazon.de ), it will be linked to your account And the linked payment method can be used for subscription purposes too like prime for US (Even if u click Try prime accidentally on Amazon.com u will be charged for prime subscription with default payment mode).
Also if there are any dues attached to your account, they can charge your default payment card (Credit card)
Now call Amazon a fraud too stuck_out_tongue

amazon says “add a card” so its pre-informed that they are saving card details.

And who said so? Is there any Explicit info mentioned anywhere saying so?
You can also add a card in final payment page instead of adding a card separately
Why to think that card will be stored permanently? Why not just for that transaction?
