Use AVG Internet Security. Using from 2 years no problem.

AVG free is not that bad.

But if you want premium security.
Just go with webroot antivirus.
This antivirus has so less impact on system that you won’t believe there’s any antivirus in your system. And it detects and protects pretty well.
ESET is also good. But webroot is always my fav.
And if you’re not so advanced user never pay for so called expensive "internet security’ or so called ‘total security’.

How much does Webroot cost? I can’t see it at Amazon.
How do you rate Mcafee Antivirus?

I have used mcafee antivirus.
one of the worst antivirus ever.
takes very long time to scan.

Btw you can download webroot free trial and give it a try.

Man, I need full version. This one seems to be cloud based. I want an offline one.
Additionally, the licence itself is 1665. Can’t spend that high on an antivirus. Any suggestions for Kaspersky?
I’ll try for bitdefender otherwise.

No Antivirus can beat Corona, stop your incorrect thinking. You need to get back to real world. Americans also thought the same and see their situation.

You mentioned still using windows 7 earlier in which case I strongly suggest to upgrade to at least win 8.1(you can use classic shell/open shell to make its start menu & interface very similar to win 7). Running an out of support windows is very risky especially if connected to net most of the time. No antivirus can help against a malware exploiting a system vulnerability for which microsoft will not issue a security patch.

Free: Avast & MalwareByte
Paid: Bit Defender & MalwareByte

McAfee, Kaspersky is heavy on systems with old specs.

For free window defender is best, no need for secondary anti-virus. Just use https links, no attachment download from unknown emails, no installation of unknown software or scan before installation.
For paid quickheal is recommended.
For windows 10 buy cheap keys from eBay and pay via paypal for precaution.

Absolutely not,in fact avira free is much better than paid quickheal.

Use bitdefender or kaspersky…. Internet security or total security ur wish…

They always participate in av comparitive tests and score maximum protection level.

U can get it cheaply in Amazon or flipkart.

Official website prices are too heavy.

Just came across this thread while searching for an antivirus light on resources.

I see many of you are recommending Avast.

I am current using Avast and started a search to replace it. Two main reasons for the replacement :
First and main reason is that now the internet is full of stories of Avast Scam. Search about it and you will find that it is a company that was questioned 3 times in 3 years for ulterior motives. How it spied on the users for 7 years and how it sold their data. I dont think it can be trusted. Even if it can be trusted, why to take a chance ?

Secondly, recently I discovered that Avast makes the HDD use 100% for a few minutes on the start. Removed many of the addons that are part of avast and still there is not much relief.

Please suggest something good, other than Avast, which is light on system resources and strongly reliable.

@bridges There is nothing safe on PC connected to internet. Do you think that Google/M$/Apple doesn’t spy on you? Even your ISP stores your financial details but claim that they never stored any.

Avast has evolved over the years. Now how many people are reading T&C and license agreements for every software on their PC? How many will check ALL the options of that particular software once installed? I remember they asked for data opt-in explicitly
