@manishkumar Here we are after a year of our initial discussions! http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
Anyway, see my following post which does address at least one of your questions. As for which places to visit and what activities to do, refer to Tripadvisor.

Last month I was in Phuket.
Did speed boat tours. One of the best trips I had.

+1
But think practically how can you enjoy if you have to travel all the time ?
My opinion: stick to just one option.
Any of these cities. And explore it to the fullest.
Bangkok being a tourism hub has so many attractions that it will take days to cover.
Not to mention, some of the good markets like CHATUCHAK are held only on weekends. The shopping experience is best at that place. You can buy bags full of goodies from there !
Salient points :
→ Go Krabi/Samui if you are with family/girlfriend/wife and looking for a rather less crowded and more romantic place.
→ Go Pattaya/Phuket if your aim is to enjoy nightlife and beaches in Oppa Gangam Style.
→ Keep yourself in Bangkok itself if you are a die hard shopper and would like to explore some places of historical importance and others which are modern marvels.
Wats, Siam underwater world, Madam Tussauds, Chatuchak, Platinum fashion mall etc.
While on your return trip to India, in case you are coming back, keep some 10 odd days and cover one other city as well as Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia which can be reached from Bangkok via a bus service. Though VISA is required but easily manageable.
Thanks for all of reply.
