Don’t go for Maruthi because of its bad build quality.
Honda after sale service is good – You can consider Jazz, Amaze, WR-V based on your requirement.
Tata After sale service is ok (mostly depends on dealer) – You can consider Altroz, Nexon
Hyundai After sale service is good – You can consider I20
VW – ASS is good but high maintenance – Polo fits in your budget
Mahindra – Never liked their cars, safety is big concern in Mahindra cars as I have came across many complaints of air bags not deploying during accident.

I also have the exact same requirements.
First car. Under 8 lakhs would be ideal. Not much usage for most of the month and probably only used for trips.
Don’t want Maruti Suzuki because of safety issues.

Looking at Tata Nexon and Hyundai i20 for now. I’ll buy BS6 variants directly. Resale value will anyway be low for 2019 models if u buy now.

You should go with Amaze or I20 sportz.
Both these cars are nice ,smooth and fuel efficient.

Well analysis in terms of all cars with suits your budget. I would suggest you to shortlist few cars and those are available in Zoomcar and Drivezy, use those cars for 2 to 3 days and make a similar analysis. You will be able to identify which suits best for you.

My preference goes Nexon. Petrol Turbo Engine is quite good and responsive. No need to talk about safety, every one knows about it.

Manufacturers increase price in January plus BS6 will add to it. If you also want petrol, you can consider buying car in 21-30 Dec and getting it registered in Jan’20. BS4 and BS6 don’t have much difference for Petrol.

Buy only Maruti cars since your are looking for economy price tag.
If you can stretch little bit, go for Ertiga. Your luggage would be inside and easy to take out any item while driving with family. It can also carry 5 adulys +2 children.
You can use this as mini caravan when you go out (by folding the last seat and children can sleep comfortably.)

PS:
Always buy petrol cars, less noise, no diesel smell. Less maintenance.
Always buy popular models (best selling models).
Do not buy just released models. They will have many bugs. You will be the guinia pig for the company. Always buy the car after 3 years of first release. If the sales are not good, company will stop the production of the car after three years.
Higher the revision of the model, less bugs (bugs would have been resolved already).

Adding few more important points:
Always buy a car which has higher ground clearance (>195mm).
All foreign manufactured or CKD kits have less ground clearance <185mm).

Speeding less height car driving during night is very dangerous due to opposite vehicle (mostly buses and lorries)head lights pointing towards your eyes.

Dealers have to give discount on existing BS4 cars if the BS6 models are launched. BS6 will be applicable from April, 2020. So you can register BS4 car till 31st March, 2020.

Best Bet is Nexon in budget you have. It has Safety, look and mileage.

If you stretch budget then check Venue. Or Creta base model. But remember Creta’s facelifted model is coming.

*Let’s do an analysis,

Cost of buying any car in India : Rs 6,00,000.

Scrap value after 6 years : Rs 1,00,000.

Amount spent in effective life of 6 years : Rs 5,00,000.

Number of days in 6 years : 2190 = 2200 (rounded off)

So, Rs 5,00,000/2200 = Rs 227 = Rs 230 (rounded off)

Yearly insurance = Rs 15000 = Rs 41/day

Petrol daily = Rs 100

After every 3 years tyre and battery change cost at Rs 25000 = Rs 23/day

Yearly maintenance of car at Rs 9000 = Rs 25/day

If driver employed = Rs 300/day

Plus interest lost on car buying amount at 8% on Rs 6,00,000 = Rs 131/day

So, total daily expense after buying new car = Rs 850/day.

So, until you pay Rs 850 daily to hire a cab, you are effectively in gain travelling via UBER or OLA.

This is my argument as well against my parents but not everyone buys cars just for commute alone.

When there are elder parents around you have to have a car in home for emergencies. My dad had a heart attack
at 3AM and we didn’t have a car and neither any cabs few years back. I was in college and that time it was so hard to get him to a hospital.

And if you are married, then you have to get a car for those weekend trips and relatives functions.

Sometimes our families go on trips in groups in a couple of cars.
Having a car gives peace of mind.

Different people have different needs.

7.70 for XM Petrol.
But that can’t be compared because RTO vary everywhere.
Also , I didn’t buy accessories pack and extended warranty.

I would tell you to wait for sometime till they launch nexon 2020 so that the price is slashed.
And yes anything above 100hp and 150+ Nm of torque is sunglasses
