need help regarding order placed on infibeam- asking for identity proof.
I have place order for two big bazaar voucher of 250 each, so total order is of 500.
Now I have receive a call from infibeam,ask me to provide me with my identity proof and card scan copy.
I had check that number on truecaller and it as that number as been reported as spam by around 300 people.
I want to know is it safe to provide this detail to infibeam because of privacy issue.As I can’t trust them. Also None of other e-commerce have either ask to provide identity proof. why only infibeam is asking for this.
They are saying “you are placing a high value order with us” but is 500 as high amount:-?

I think there are trying to find if the buyer is genuine. They might have had some issues of prank orders.

it is prepaid order.
@soaef wrote:Then it might be there are confirming that you will pay the money on delivery because there have been cases where people have ordered it on cod and rejected it on delivery saying that they did not order anything just for the fun of it. Last month i received 2 parcels from homeshop18 which was ordered on cod to my house. I hadn’t ordered anything from that site and the name and contact number was entirely different. When we tried calling the number, it was not reachable. The guy had to take it back. Just think of the delivery charges which the site provided for a fake order. So they might be asking for some id proof.

not a suggestion, but didn’t you feel like or tell them (when on phone call) that you want to thwack them repeatedly on their most vulnerable and/or sensitive body parts ?
you could have and still go ahead by doing so for the alleged e-mail and mark the reply copy to the higher ups at Infibeam Inc. Limited and their associated counter parties in this overly cautious endeavour of theirs. [assuming it is not a phishing attack → computerworld.com/article/3027244/security/defending-yourself-from-amazon-com.html]
This of-course is after politely yet emphatically asking them to give the specific reasons in black and white and probing them on what assurance there is; that tomorrow a credit card or personal loan recovery agency won’t call you for money taken in your name;
by giving fabricated documentation; as now these employees would have your janam-kundali aka many/all personally identifiable details/documents. (Name, address, contact email/number and even photo id or PAN).
tell them you are marking the snapshot of this incident to other on-line e-tailers
and few famous twitter handles or masala starved media outlets who’d snap at this ’Infibeam’s alleged harassment tactics aimed at its paying customers’.
also; is that email 100% legit ? → hackread.com/amazon-phishing-scam-steals-cc-details
LoL if it was Amazon i can understand, How Dare Infibeam ?
Now wait for Shopclues Identity Verification mail
Good bye infibeam
