Hello all,
I have started hitting gym from last month & from past one week, my trainer is saying to start using protein powders.
Im not aware of these proteins and all.. My questions are :
1) Does using such protein powders will have any side effects?
2) Is it mandatory to use such powders when we start workouts?
3) Which brand do you guys suggest? I Heard Golden Standard is the best one. Is it true?
4) What if I use these proteins for 2-3 years and then I suddenly stop? does that show effect on me?
5) Is it really necessary to consult doctor and start using these powders or we can simply go with a good branded one ?
6) If not these protein powders / shakes what is another alternative you would suggest to get an equal amount of protein?
Sorry if these questions or silly / doesn’t make sense. I seriously have 0 knowledge on this & badly wanted to know.
Hope Your Inputs will give clarity to my questions.
Thanks In Advance

I have been working out for the last 15 years and used a lot of protein supplements. Whey Protein is extremely safe and must-have if you cannot take protein from natural resources. Protein supplements have always been safe, its the adulteration that causes all the damage. I will suggest buying protein from genuine source only, if any of friends or relatives are coming from abroad then you can ask them to buy some for your. You can yourself buy protein from bodybuilding.com but that would attract a lot of custom duty. You can try My Protein brand or buy ON gold standard from amazon (seller – cloudtail),
All these are apt. All depends on your current intake. For vegetarians, protein sources are limited and we need whey to complete protein requirements. For non veg, whey is not needed as many sources are available. @hanu77
Feel free to reach out for any health related queries and help. Below is my wife’s page:
I would suggest after gym have 2eggs(yolk+albumen part) plus 100-150ml of milk with peanut butter plus ur flavoured malt( I use Hershey’s milk syrup ..sometimes wen I run out of it I take bournvita ) and then my normal breakfast whatever my mom prepares that day…while in gym i drink glucose mixed water…and nothing more…I do 45-50mins off weights and 10-15mins of all sorts of cardio…I prefer maintaining a lean body with muscles instead of me looking like rock…so it’s upto u to choose which body type u would prefer and accordingly add more of proteins in natural way to ur diet…it’s better u avoid taking wheys and instead try to include more of natural proteins thru peanuts eggs bananas dals…hope this help u and one more thing I am ain’t a professional and my views are purely based on my experience…if ur pockets are full then it’s better u consider buying premium protein powders…
According to me should meet all the nutritional requirements if u started the gym. Add calcium too bone health is equally important.
Unless you’re planning to enter something like Mr.India competition…there is zero need to take protein supplements
Natural diet is more than enough
Protein + Carbs + Good Fats
About consulting a doctor, of you don’t have a pre-existing health condition..no need
Start with light exercise and gradually increase the weights n time ..
If you notice anything like shortness of breath, sharp pain in the chest… Consult a doctor (Get a fitness watch and monitor your heart beat)
Like above what all suggesting if u are nit entering any competiotin then better to take protein from natural resources like daals eggs or fish and why ur trainer is asking u to take protein… May be becoz he wants to sell the protein to u.. As it has huge profit margin if u still requires it.. Better go for whey protein of ONN and better to use healthkart to buy any supplements.. If taken in a proper way and in subsequent quantity it will not affect any body part… Otherwise a chances of liver failure…
Protein teesukunte Hrithik la kandalu vastai.teesukokunte dhanush lekka vastai.anthe simple.teesukodam safe e whey gold standard.inko matter cheppana mi trainer gadu oka one month poyaka musle lock ayindi massage kuda cheyali antadu.vade okadni suggest chestadu.idantha valla side business anthe.but ya whey gold standard teesuko but cost kuda chudali ga.amazon lo offers vachinapudu konukko.
i would suggest, start initially with natural sources for protein like eggs and daal most of the time.
Although there is no harm in taking protein shake from these powders, generally the trainers tends to sell the product on their own to gather maximum profit.
I have personally, never purchased anything from trainers.
You can check out planet nutrition for supplements.
2 words for you – buy ON ,
bhai mat le esa kuch bhi … koi body ni ban ni…ek do bimari or ho jayegi
I require health kart referral code , anybody provide me
There was a report some months back in Times Of India IIRC where the senior doctor in a leading hospital had mentioned that nearly 1% of the patients with liver failure ( over a significant period of time) were on protein supplements. Best to use in moderation if deemed necessary.
Plus risk of kidney damage as well if used excessively.
