before i tell my story let me say this i have been a stupid completely

I withdrawn money from my citrus wallet on July 7 of 750₹ to my bank account but that same amount was credited to me twice so instead of taking the money as my friend said i messaged citrus about this duplicate transaction and they asked for my bank statement i sent the same .after checking they asked to add 750rs to the wallet again which they will take back & i agreed.meanwhile bank took 300rs from my account wrongly so i complained on bank and sent mail to citrus stating to give some time while i fix my issue with bank.a month after friend sends me money on Citrus they take 750₹ without my knowledge and called me to inform me about this after taking the money.i wasn’t sad they took the money but was angry they took it without my knowledge so i deleted my account on citrus so everything came to an end

Now that’s what i thought but its not the end their bank partner Kotak which credited me 750rs wrongly complained against me last week and froze my bank account.i have a IOB bank account so i went to the bank asked why my account is frozen they explained me this “Kotak and Citrus filed a complaint so we froze your account”.After showing all the proof for Citrus talking the money back,bank didn’t agree with me stating that my account will be kept frozen until Kotak take their complaint back.

Contacted Citrus now they said “Hey, Please note that we do not have rights for freezing any of our customer’s personal bank account. Request you to get in touch with your respective bank.” so called customer care now they saying to ask the IOB bank to mail citrus why they blocked the account but they wont contact their bank partner Kotak who complained against me.

My account is frozen because of a mistake from Citrus end ,gonna talk lot of time just to fix this issue from my IOB bank which has terrible customer service

All i wanted to say is if something happens to you don’t act stupid like me

If my bank had done this to me, i would have ensured that they would have a meeting with Ombudsman. How on earth can a bank freeze account of a customer without a court warrant ? I believe the bank is completely at fault here. I would suggest OP to knock the door of banking ombudsman. Even a strongly worded email to top brass of bank including the CEO will get the ball rolling.

thank you now i am confident that it’s my bank terrible service is the reason to blame they didn’t even inform me regarding this I came to know this when I couldn’t do any online transaction.i will take this to the manager and make it right than first thing is to withdrawn money and close my account .

First we corner citrus customer servic he is full responsible next is bank he knows the history of this person statement he check back he knows the statement which gateway taking back the amount so do it means get a solution ..

I know its easier said than done but I’ll do this if I’m in your situation.

First get the letter from bank the reason for freezing the account in writing and then approach Kotak with that letter asking their reasoning for taking such action. Then I’ll approach ombudsman for the trouble caused to me by Kotak at no fault of mine and ask for compensation too. Talking to CC will not be helpful as they are not capable to take any action or give you anything in writing. Approaching branch should resolve it faster. If they kotak/IOB do not respond use RTI for IOB and ombudsman for Kotak.

Please see if possible to raise a complaint with bank Appellate authority.. If the disputed amount is 750 then they can freeze the amount in ypur account to that extent not whole account.

Being a banker, I can understand the system loopholes which led to this situation.
At this point, what I could suggest you is to just visit your branch and ask for the complaint copy on the basis of which they freezed your account. Ask them to mark a lien of ₹750 instead of freeze, here I assume that the amount is mentioned in the complaint by kmb. All bank branches must carry a poster with banking ombudsman contact details. Just ask that from your branch (I would request you to first try for other possible solution because ombudsman first asks bank for a reply and it takes time). You can PM me for any clarification on any rules or other help.

Bro, If you are confident then you can take legal action against your bank as they have put a freeze on your account without proper investigation. They can, in turn, ask kmb to settle the compensation after they compensate you. The banking ombudsman is considered a very strong body among bankers and mere approaching to it by a customer triggers immediate action by higher management in banks and in most cases they themselves accept the customer’s claim. Just an information that the decision of Banking Ombudsman can be only challenged by GM of banks approaching RBI deputy governor which is a very rare event.

As all these process take a little time, and here the immediate need is to unfreeze the account hence I gave you suggestions for that. You had already approached them to know the reason for freezing the account but insist them to give the reason in written with proper reference (here the mail or letter by kmb). If they deny, just drop a mail requesting this on the official mail ID of your Branch Manager or hand him a letter and take the receiving. The next step is to convince them for changing the freeze to a lien of ₹750 on basis of kmb request which they got if it has the mention of the disputed amount. Also ask them to request kmb for any update and who knows they may realise that the dispute is settled.

my bank is asking me to get a conformation from KMB which i don’t have any contact citrus is saving they didn’t do anything.because of this freeze i went through problems, its solved now but i feel like going against them cause its their mistake and i helped them but inreturn i got this.

complain to bank( get complaint id) wait for few days if not resolved complain in Banking ombudsman the very next day you’ll get call then problem will be solved in few days

You had a relation with your own bank only so if in trouble, then case should be filed against them only. They can involve kmb if they want.

Same happened to me. I had withdrawn 75rs to my bank acc from citrus. But i got twice . I kept quiet. After one month when i loaded money in citrus and withdrawn it. I got call from cc that since 75rs was added twice last month they had deducted the 75rs from my wallet and I can use the rest. I got frustrated and angry . Filed a consumer complain instantly . Mesaaged citrus on fb along with consumer case reference no. Within 10 mins got my money back and an apology from citrus
