Doesn’t seem practical considering lobbying powers of private companies, if true then it will be having multiple riders

Funny Airlines Stories

AIRLINE CHARGES

Attendant: Welcome aboard Ala Carte Air, sir. May I see your ticket?
Passenger: Sure.

Attendant: You’re in seat 12B. That will be $5, please!
Passenger: What for?

Attendant: For telling you where to sit.
Passenger: But I already knew where to sit.

Attendant: Nevertheless, we are now charging a seat-locator fee of $5. It’s the airline’s new policy.
Passenger: That’s the craziest thing I ever heard. I won’t pay it.

Attendant: Sir, do you want a seat on this flight, or not?
Passenger: Yes, yes. All right, I’ll pay. But the airline is going to hear about this.

Attendant: Thank you. My goodness, your carry-on bag looks heavy. Would you like me to stow it in the overhead compartment for you?
Passenger: That would be swell, thanks.

Attendant: No problem (grunts). Up we go, and done! That will be $10, please.
Passenger: What?

Attendant: The airline now charges a $10 carry-on assistance fee.
Passenger: This is extortion. I won’t stand for it.

Attendant: Actually, you’re right – you can’t stand. You need to sit, and fasten your seat belt. We’re about to push back from the gate. But first I need that $10.
Passenger: No way.

Attendant: Sir, if you don’t comply, I will be forced to call the air marshal. And you really don’t want me to do that.
Passenger: Why not? Is he going to shoot me?

Attendant: No, but there’s a $50 air-marshal hailing fee.
Passenger: Oh, all right, here – take the $10. I can’t believe this.

Attendant: Thank you for your cooperation, sir. Is there anything else I can do for you?
Passenger: Yes. It’s stuffy in here, and my overhead fan doesn’t seem to work. Can you fix it?

Attendant: Your overhead fan is not broken, sir. Just insert two quarters into the overhead coin slot for the first five minutes.
Passenger: The airline is charging me for cabin air?

Attendant: Of course not, sir. Stagnant cabin air is provided free of charge. It’s the circulating air that costs 50 cents.
Passenger: I don’t have any quarters. Can you make change for a dollar?

Attendant: Certainly, sir! Here you go!
Passenger: But you’ve given me only three quarters for my dollar.

Attendant: Yes, there’s a change-making fee of 25 cents.
Passenger: For cryin’ out loud. All I have left is a lousy quarter? What ever will I do with it?

Attendant: Hang onto it. You’ll need it later for the lavatory

It would be a bad move if this policy is implemented. Instead, they could have have capped the upper limit of the air fare but setting a limit of 1,200 rs for a 30 mins flight is ridiculous. Having said that, i don’t have any sympathy for arlines . they have asked for it. Airlines cos went all greedy mode during crisis and started charging rediclous amount. There was an airline which sold delhi-chandhigarh flight for a lac rupees during Haryana jat agitation crisis.

Government should also start capping fares of some of their premium trains. I commute between Bangalore-Chennai every week and shatabdi fares is 800 rupees for one side( 340 kms). For 800 rs you get pathetic food, broken chairs, dirty interiors. On the other hand, private bus operators charge 500 bucks for spotlessly clean Scania, Volvo buses on the same route and they are sometimes even faster than the fastest train in the country( Shatabdhi). https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif .

Do these private buses follow announced schedules? Not in case of North Indian operators, with a few exceptions. They can delay bus to ensure full occupancy, can cancel or change bus in case occupancy stays low and can refuse to offer the seat of choice even in case of pre bookings paid in full. Government owned buses are better as they follow the schedule, even in case of ordinary ones.

I cannot comment on punctuality of buses plying in north India. I have only taken them couple of times to travel to Manali and they were decent back then.

South India has a lot of reliable bus operators who does an excellent job. They are punctual and much better than railway premium trains in some routes. Some of the decent bus operators plying in south India are, VRL, Parveen & Hebron travels. Delhi-Bangalore journey on an AC chair car costs 600 rupees( Double Decker, lalbagh, Chennai express). Comfort levels are pathetic in trains especially double decker. In spite of charging 600 rs, Chairs on some of these trains don’t recline properly. Interiors are dirty and full of scratches. Shatbadi fares a little better when it comes to overall experience but costs ~800-850 rs and runs slow ( 70 kms avg speed) while bus operators usually maintain an average speed of 85-90 kmph.

New coaches (made in India!!!) which are now being used in shatabdis are having very poor quality(exteriors, chairs,…). Double deckers are supposed to cram more and more people, so even brand new chairs don’t recline properly, which seems not an issue but as expected and designed. Plus no leg space and no space for luggage.

Observed on Mysore -Bangalore route that a car can’t overtake Volvo bus , but here in North India even ordinary bus overtakes Volvo/Mercedes. Average speed of buses same as trains here.

Although Volvo/Scania Buses are generally fast but they are no match for a D segment and above cars. these days i only take Scania buses and they regularly maintain a speed of 110-115 Kmph. I have seen cars such as Fiesta, Innova’s overtaking the bus even at those speeds.
