The Maharashtra Government has proposed new rules for apps like Uber. They will mean an end to the Uber . The plans include:
Mandatory minimum fares and other price restrictionsThe need to use more expensive, less fuel efficient carsProhibitive permit fees - drivers will need to pay upto Rs 2.61 lakh to get a permit and Uber has to pay Rs 50 lakh per 1000 vehicles to continue operating
These proposals will mean higher prices and longer wait times. They will also threaten the livelihood of thousands of hard working drivers.
The Maharashtra government has asked for feedback on their proposal.
