HPCL gets aboard Infibeam Avenues’ BillAvenue Platform for LPG gas bookings:
Infibeam Avenues Limited has partnered with HPCL for LPG gas cylinder bookings across India through its BillAvenue platform. HPCL is the first biller to go live under the new LPG category.
BillAvenue is unified, interoperable online bill payments platform built on the Bharat BillPay System (BBPS) infrastructure developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). A.R. Ramesh, BBPS chief said: “The Bharat BillPay System launched by NPCI has revolutionized the way bill payments of electricity, gas, water, telecom and DTH are done. However, the existing gas category hitherto included only piped gas category. The RBI has recently decided to expand the scope and coverage of BBPS to include all categories of billers who raise recurring bills including booking for gas cylinders.” HPCL is the first biller to go live under the new LPG category, he said.
Vishwas Patel, ED at Infibeam Avenues added the partnership with HPCL will realise NPCI’s vision of simplifying and transforming bill payments for electricity, gas, water, telecom, and other services in India.

Ah good news. I can stop paying the bribe of 25 rupees to the delivery man for each delivery. Does online payment play with subsidies though?
No difference except that instead of paying cash to the delivery man you are paying the money directly to the company online.

Few points to note:
1)All local distributors are not fully equipped to accept online payment.
2)They do not deliver it on time, if you pre-pay online
3)You may have to visit to their local office and show your receipt of payment to get the delivery.
4)The delivery boys may not have knowledge about the online payment and he may insist on the cash payment again. He may not have received the updated receipt from the dealer just before the delivery.
5)Usually online pre-payments booking are ignored by local dealers and the delivery boy may even mark it as delivered and sell it to some one. There is no way to cross check this. He can throw away the receipt and say it has been delivered.
6)Most of the uneducated services people like ‘’uber/ola/tea/shops/other service’’ would prefer to see the cash in hand rather than in bank account.
