Hi All,
OLA Cabs Charged me Rs 523 for 8 KMs Ride. Initial fare estimate was Rs 100 to Rs 125 but at the time of drop my family was shocked to see the charges. Is their any hope of fare review.
Any suggestions will help me.
Cheers.
Was this in Mumbai? By the way, Uber participates in “Surge pricing” (i.e. a hiked-up fare during higher demand time-periods). Maybe it’s because of that?
Uber STILL do this for every other ride.. So it is very risky to take Uber since the fare goes up in the middle of the ride and not by like 10-20% but by 100-300%.. They also change routes and then your discount goes away as well and you end up paying double what you were shown in the beginning.
One of many ways they cheat you. I dont usually say cheating but this kind of thing is pure cheating because you never did anything and you took a ride expecting to pay a particular charge but end up paying far higher. Imagine taking a flight and when you get there, they wont let you off the plane or train until you pay them 200% of what you paid for the ticket to take the flight..
We rarely take uber rides now. Even refused to take their Ride pass rates since they discount like rs30 but its useless since they charge you double and triple rates and then reduce by 30rs with the Ride Pass. In the beginning we used to take them every day since they were just a little bit more than taking the auto, now taking a taxi ends up being cheaper.
Was there a peak time charge mentioned during booking like 2.2x or 4x something like that? Check the bill for peak time charges.
may be surge charge of 2%
Your bill is multiplied by x times in my case it was 2.5 times as it was an rush hour. So check your multiplier or post the full bill!
@hotdeals call CC, they will modify your bill, then and there itself…
You got hit by surge pricing . If you go through ola Facebook page, many are complaining regarding surge pricing . its high time government makes surge pricing illegal
yes they are charging peak time charges in MUMBAI TODAY and that too 2.5 times more
shocking
one of my friend was also charged the peak time charges in mumbai today…. is there any way to solve the issue now… will CC help in this

dont pay simple. let them do what they can
For 3Km they charged me 200 where min charge is ₹60/3Km asked the cab driver to wait and called cc and asked them to review the fare right now or else I’m not gonna pay they said me to pay ₹70(includes ride time)

Sorry updated location and bill details screenshot.
I have sent them mail yesterday and haven’t got any reply yet. Will call them immediately to review the charges.
this was only because there were no cabs near by your location op i guess…
Thanks for the screenshot. Looks like OP paid more than 50rs/Km for Ola Taxi which is supposed to be the cheapest Taxi:roll: Ola advertises everywhere that Mini is the cheapest . I wonder what if someone takes a 50 kms ride during 5.0X surge pricing without being aware of concept of surge pricing. He would be hit with a bill of more than 3500 rupees.
Complaining to Ola won’t help. Even i was a victim of Ola surge pricing. They did not reverse the amount even after complaining. Your only option is to submit a written complaint to RTO.
It’s high time Government steps in and makes surge pricing illegal.
Thats so high.
will any govt step in and look into this looting…. i doubt coz these people like drivers, maids, cleaners etc are vote banks and they dont wanna loose them….
some people have been charged as high as Rs.500/- as peak time extra charges and OLA refuses to solve any issue stating that we accepted the 2.5 times surcharge condtion
Does Ola mention surge pricing multiplier while booking?
PS: Haven’t used any cab service yet.

Yes.
what about UBER + TFS
do they also show the peak pricing pop up while booking

Why do you need cabs, @superwoman ?!!

Uber does. TFS had (has?) a concept of a flat 50 surcharge for peak times. TFS has flip-flopped a few times on this surcharge.
Ola doesn’t share surge charge with drivers.

TFS doesn’t have peak time charges now.

That’s true. Entire peak time charges goes into OLA’s pockets.
