Hi
I want to upgrade my old PC components.
I need CPU + Mobo+ RAM and a new Case.
Budget is not fixed but want to spend as less as possible.
PC mainly use for basic things like browsing, listening music, downloading, watching videos etc.
I can spend near 12K for all three components.
I can buy from locally(Kolkata) but easy no cost EMI would be great for me.

Hope your motherboard supports SATA port, instead of upgrading entire system just install SSD and see the difference. You can get 256GB SSD for around 4-5K.

Well it depends on which CPU is in the old system, anything older than sandy bridge would be too old. Core2duo would work for the things he wants to do.. But if you want like USB3 and power savings then a newer CPU helps. Also which RAM type.. Seems its very hard to find DDR3 mother boards that uses newer CPU’s.. Video decoding hardware is only available in newer CPU’s. For 12K you would need to reuse a lot of things. just an I3 would cost like 8-9K and another 3-5K for the mobo.. So its back to DDR3 systems.. Maybe even DDR2 which I think is too old even if the CPU can do most of these things..

@HackerX Can you increase your budget by 3k? That would net you the very capable quad core Ryzen system. Provided that you can make do with 4GB RAM. Otherwise another 1.5k or so for additional 4GB. 120/128GB SSD can be had for 1.6-1.8k and 250/256GB for 2.4-2.6k. Not top-of-the-line ones but will do for light usage and light years ahead of spinning rust.

Thank you guys!
I have old C2D 2GHz and 4GB DDR2 RAM.
It’s unable to run HD YouTube video at 60fps.
System goes to 100% and videos freeze.

Replace old c2d with c2d 8500 relieved
Hardly costs Rs. 500-600

If you are considering complete new PC, then Ryzen 2200G is way to go…

I was thinking of the following may be under my budget if emi not available.
R3 200GE+A320+4GB DDR4 2600
But I’m worried about A320. Heard it need BIOS update. Also my old local case got too much rust on it.

An Nvidia GT 1030 would have sufficed for all media decoding needs but at 6-7k its only 1k less than R 3 2200g – 4 Zen cores+GT 1030 class perf . I guess you could look for a mobo bundle along with Athlon 200GE.
Edit: I am guessing you are using a no-name PSU? That will take OCing the C2D pretty much out of the question. Although with an undervolt a moderate overclock to say 2.5-2.8GHz might be possible…
Edit2: Have you tried the H264ify extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/h264i...? Forces Chrome to use the ( royalty-based) H.264 codec (which is supported in hardware ) as opposed to the royalty-free VP9 which isn’t. You could use the “Stats For Nerds” in the YouTube page to determine exactly which video codec is giving you grief.

Need a good case too.
For mATX mobo.
Only for air cooling.
Can be easily cleaned with brush.
Can hold 3xHDDs and DVD.
Nothing else except keep components cool.

Sorry extension failed.
CPU going 100%.
Need new HTPC Setup.
CPU+Mobo+RAM+Case.
I already have rest of the components so no need to worry.
Thank you!

Can anyone please confirm if the following combo able to run current android mmorps/gemes smoothly ?

A6 9600/200GE + A320M MOBO + 4GB 2400MHz RAM

Not sure if 3000MHz will support on abobe cpu mobo combo or not.

Yew! A6 is based on the infamous Bulldozer architecture. And before Ryzen AMD wasn’t a good choice at all when it came to Android emulation and not just because of its terrible performance.
Edit: Emulation is pretty CPU intensive. Plus gaming demands a decent GPU. I hate to sound like a broken record but the R3 2200G fulfills both requirements with aplomb without breaking the bank. 200GE might just squeeze through but with only 2 cores there’s not much scope of multi-tasking.

At Rs 3550 this AsRock mobo seems to be the cheapest https://mdcomputers.in/asrock-a320m-hdv.html?se... What’s more it explicitly mentions Raven Ridge/Pinnacle Ridge (2nd gen. Ryzen APUs and CPUs respectively ) support. I am guessing this is the basic model that only supports upto a max. of 65W CPUs. Only 2 RAM slots limited to 32GB. Asus has one at Rs 4.9k with 4 slots and 64GB max. It also supports 8-core CPUs so 105W TDP.
Antec cabinets start from as low as Rs 2.2k.

OK it’s final then.
Will wait but 2200G is way to go.
Asus or Asrock anything with work cos there will be no further CPU upgrade on this Mobo.
One more thing.
Will 8GB Single Stick 3000MHz RAM will be enough ? Wanted to go for 2×4GB 3000MHz but only 2400MHz 4GB available in the market currently.

C2D is still a dual core, well over a decade old. Even lower end celerons in notebooks are faster than that, not to mention it’s a “gazz guzzler” & more inefficient than Bulldozer.
