[OPINION] Behavior of merchant while purchasing with coupons

Agreed. Specially if you are at CCD and demanding high value beverages against voucher.

Best experience has been of Domino’s as you can apply online but cannot be clubbed with ongoing offers

My experience is mostly bad, as i am from a small city, most of the shops like havemore or subway donot accepts coupons here, says that they do not have any command to give offers

Here’s my recent experience with vouchers :

Went to Barbeque Nation, had dinner (5 people).
Asked for bill.
→ Told the waiter I will pay partly by Babeque Nation gift vouchers. He was dumbstruck.
→ He went back and talked to the billing guy.
→ Came back with manager after a while. Everyone in my family looking at me as if I have done something wrong. Nobody wanted to wait anymore
→ Manager asked me the source of coupon, I explained these are Barbeque Nation gift vouchers, not coupons which I got from Little app.
→ Got reply : What is Little app saaaaar?
→ Showed him that thing. He asked to mail the gift vouchers to their mail id. Sent immediately.

……. Waiting for another 10 good minutes. Everyone impatient, telling me I should stop hunting deals blah blah ……… Embarassing.

I went to the manager and asked him if its done now.
→ Manager replies they are onto it. (Actually they had no idea where to redeem it)

→ I told him my mom will beat me if you delay any further !
→ They agree to let me go. Took my mobile number for any clarification.

FTW!

I find it embarrassing to use vouchers/coupons at outlets especially when I’m with family or friends. Last thing I want is an argument with a manager over a coupon after a nice dinner with family/friends. I would rather prefer a peaceful dining experience than saving a few hundred bucks here and there.

Experience of fearing someone
I got one voucher of Bata.
When i went to store & said that i have GV, they said that our manager is not here so come tomorrow.
Again went after that day and told him to reedem this GV, again they said the same thing.
Now listen what i done……
I called the GANG OF WASEYPUR and also called myGyftr that Bata has gone mad, within 2-4 min Bata Store received a call from BATA COMPANY & the store person was dumb stuck, again the employee said that he don’t know anthing about reeedeming GV. Bata guided him but he was not understanding the process.
Now, I took the phone and i was working like a MANAGER there & I only Billed my product

Only KFC guys accepted vouchers without asking any questions,rest like ccd,McD,dominos they always ask questions

I used it 1-2 times but it’s too embarrassing for me to use any GV in restaurants.
So I never use now especially in front of any girl.
Edit – I don’t even use Sodexo passes anywhere as they feel like chillar vouchers

I once bought KFC vouchers and asked the manager if they accept them before ordering. They didn’t hesitate. They had some problem validating the vouchers but he said me not to worry it will take a while and let me go.

What has been your experience at salons and spa?
Did you feel quality difference?
I fear if they use inferior products, it can be a big deal for us!

See you got the voucher in a legal way, its the company itself who promoting/selling those GV’s online.

Never hesitate in making your valid point, plus it is their responsibility to redeem the voucher, not yours !!
I have redeemed Gv’s on so many store outlets with family, friends & gf also, but never a single time face such situations,
Some times they take time in redeeming but its okay for me..
Don’t feel ashamed from inside, be confident .. you will never going to face embarrassing situations.
Pro tip : Always tell partner that you r goin to use Gv/cpns earlier before entering the outlet.

I have good experience with kfc
had few vouchers of 50% off
applied 3 coupons with order divided in 3 bills
I need not ask the lady to do so, she did it herself

I too hesitate to use coupon/vouchers with family, my dad already doesn’t trust e-commerce. If this happens in front of him, he will never forget to mention it each time

Like already mentioned, it depends in each outlet, some staff know how to use it , some dont know. It always best to inform them before ordering that you will use coupon/voucher, to avoid big issue(dont have cash to pay).

Had once used kfc voucher, the kfc staff were looking at me as if they spotted a thief! Then I spoke with manager who by chance knew the voucher & applied it.

Incidence #2, had few ccd beans, when at ccd I thought I’ll utilize the ccd wallet & told the ccd person that I’ll pay by ccd beans & remaining by freecharge. He told okay, he tried, & tried… & still trying after 10mins… +15 mins later,when asked,he told there’s some network error!
Everyone looking at me probably thinking what’s going on..
Fedup with this I paid the whole bill by cash(luckily I had cash in pocket)!
So embarrassing it was!

Forget about redeeming vouchers, when there was foodpanda 40% offer about 1-2yrs ago, ordered some food and opted pickup. The restaurant guy was behaving like I am asking the order for free..!
After asking him what’s wrong, he told it is difficult for them to receive payments from foodpanda, such a lame excuse!
That was last time I ordered on foodpanda.!

This is a very good thread. Nice to hear that I’m not the only one who has felt this way.

[NB] In majority of the instances, there has been no hassle in redeeming vouchers. I always ensure to ask at the counter if they are taking the vouchers and redeem it there itself.
[Little] less visibility(as the counter chap has to be told about this multiple times) but redemption has been smooth till date.

one general thing I have noticed is that the counter chap tells me to come directly and they will offer me the NB price as NB takes 25-30% commission from them. but they don’t know that NB gives 20-30% CB too.
