Assuming you are using Outlook to check office emails, you can only recover last 4 days of deleted mails only. To recover those, you need to open “Folder” menu and then click on “Recover Deleted Items” button.

If you had setup auto-archiving of old emails into PST and did not choose the location of PST different from the default, then it used to get saved to C:\Users\\Documents\Outlook Files\archive.pst. But since you have reinstalled windows through recovery CD, most probably that would have been overwritten by the new installation. Check if the file is still there. If not, then you have no other way to recover the emails.

Next time setup google drive and save the PST directly in there so that its safe in the event of computer failure

Are you using Outlook web access or Outlook software?

If the option is not visible then try the registry edit method to turn on the option:

  1. Start Registry Editor. (type “regedit” in command prompt)
  2. Locate and then click the following subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options
  3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
  • Value name: DumpsterAlwaysOn
  • Data type: DWORD
  • Value data: 1
  1. Close Registry Editor
