As per sources, Pakistan has asked India for Hydroxychloroquine to combat symptoms of coronavirus.

Pakistan has become the latest country to seek India’s help after the country has seen almost 6,000 coronavirus cases and over 100 deaths. Chloroquine and a newer, similar drug called hydroxychloroquine have been pushed by President Donald Trump. But the drugs have long been known to have potentially serious side effects.

Earlier, Pakistan had banned the export of Hydroxychloroquine after it was asserted that the drug can be used to treat the symptoms of coronavirus.

In Pakistan, there has been confusion over which department — Commerce Division or the National Health Ministry — has authority to impose ban on export of medicines, according to the Dawn newspaper.

No India lifted the ban much before speech of trump
https://swarajyamag.com/politics/fact-check-did...
And moreover India is the largest manufacturer of hydroxy chloroquine, so there is no shortage except one will not find in shops because it has to be taken only when prescribed and under observation to a covid patient. Also it is not a proven medication/treatment for coronavirus.

It’s always about the pecking order in world politics. India is more dependent on US than they are dependent on us. But China doesn’t give a shit about US because they know US can’t do shit to them as they are mutually dependent on big scale.

Seriously India won’t fear that the US will attack us. But think about the repercussions of dealing with a mad US president who thinks he might not get a second term. We are dependent on them for most of our service industries (IT, ITES). We are dependent on them for import of high tech technology. Why did you think the recent arms deal went through so fast?

They don’t need us for anything probably and we need them for a lot of things including censuring pakistan and china. We need their dollars but they dont need our Rupee. Forget Modi, no PM in coming 20-30 years will be able to afford to show a finger to any US president. They can thump their big chest anyway they want in their public speeches in India, but in world politics we don’t have a big say.

Why they will die. No one treat malaria at home. It is available to hospitals. ICMR said it will be available to doctors only or when they prescribe it. It may seem low stock now as people may take it as possible cure for corona virus and it has side effects.
Manufacturers are producing it in more quantity now so that there is no shortage.

Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) Executive Director Ashok Kumar Madan said: “India needs around 24 million tablets per year as on date for the three indications - malaria, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis, it was being used”.

India currently has an annual installed capacity of around 40 metric tonnes of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) of hydroxychloroquine. With this capacity, “we can make around 200 million tablets of 200 mg”, he added.

We might give any number of reasons being ashamed but the real reason is Trump threat. It’s not about Modi, any sane govt in the India wouldn’t want the ire of a mad US president who is afraid that he might not get a second term. Check my above post as to why it was a sane decision.

To answer your question, once you give it to the US we can’t afford to say no to those countries. How can Modi say no to Israel who has been one of our big Military partners (don’t forget their help during Kargil). We can never afford to say not to our immediate neighbors because China is waiting to exert their influence on these neighbors.

Seriously even though few think its shameful that India took US threat seriously, we don’t have a choice. We can’t fight them economically.

India also exported PPE kits when they themselves did not have much stock. Here people are dying because of no ambulance but why should they bother confused

Yes that is what I told. India has no choice but to take Trump threat seriously. Do you have any statistics or reports which say that we don’t even have enough tablets to treat even malaria? (link please). I am sure we will find scarcity of them if they have to treat millions of covid patients, but for now there shouldn’t be any issues to treat patients of Malaria. They are not taking stocks from suppliers and exporting them really.

Yeah because only we common people fight and love for our country. All these freaking politicians and capitalists saw a way to make money. Before they brought the export ban, they made sure some manufacturers had the chance to export them in huge numbers. But still people think “their” politicians exist for the good of common people.

His nervousness and the eagerness to open the economy in spite of their own capitalists saying to take it slow says otherwise. US elections are fought on how good a president held the economy well, how well their stock market is doing, how less the unemployment rates are. Obama didn’t break a sweat for his second term. Even Trump was on his way in a similar way till this happened. Now its a very hard battle for him.

This lie spread by misquoting the statement is already busted: https://www.indiatoday.in/news-analysis/story/d...

And don’t spread lie about this OOS. Sometimes this happens due to panic buying. Some misleading/fake media reporting is the main reason behind it.

Which hospital you are talking about? Most of the government hospitals in India have only 3-4 medicines like paracetamol ciprofloxacin etc in stock mostly they prescribe out side medicines citing non availability of the stock, nowadays even OPDs are closed, what if a private doctor prescribed this medicine to the patient where would he get the medicine, in govt hospitals? 😲
