postpaid vs prepaid

Guys, I’m using airtel postpaid so far….
It is always the minimum billing plan I choose and to top it up, I will also have rental discount (by sending PORT sms)

But looks like the game is over, airtel is no longer offering rental discounts at the moment.

My requirements are unlimited calls and little amount of data (last month usage is 3.3Gb which is very huge consumption in my case)

Does it make sense to move to JIO with affordable packs or am I missing any thing here?

What would I be missing if I move from airtel/postpaid to Jio/prepaid? Any philosophy?

Thanks

You need to check data speed and network in your area, ask your friend a jio sim for testing…..

If you getting good network and speed, just go for it blindly. ₹98 pack will best for you. And just recharge for 10 to get additional 1gb….

Yes airtel postpaid to Jio prepaid possible…. Just pay airtel full bill and unbilled amount… And pay 50 m₹ extra for 2-3 days….. And apply for jio prepaid with your kyc, porting sms and last paid bill slip.

Within 3days, your number will port successfully

Any idea how to recharge from Amazon with Rs. 98 plan? The minimum plan they show of late is that Rs. 129 one! Other wallets like Freecharge shows the same! Yet Rs. 98 plan is a valid one!

Jio is expensive if you call a lot. Stick to Airtel but switch to prepaid. They are truly unlimited for calls.

Recharge with 379 rs plan on Airtel and you will get unlimited calls with 6 GB of data for 84 days. You can also topup with additional data only packs in case you exhaust your 6GB.

If you require more data then recharge with 598 rs plan. Unlimited calls and 1.5GB data per day for 84 days.

Jio’s additional data received with top-up of ₹10 and more is valid for 90days, so don’t keep unused data lined up in Vouchers section.
This month I lost 4 × 5gb un-redeemed vouchers which I had received in month of November with 4 x ₹50 top-up.
Jio cc reply on this issue was as below

“Any Un-redeemed additional data voucher will have a validity of 90 days from the date of being credited in the account. Once redeemed, the additional data voucher will be valid till the active base plan.”

move to Airtel prepaid which gives u unlimited calling in 379 plan for 84 days. as ur data needs are low ,
if Jio gives u better speed u can choose Jio also with 98+10 plan .

Switch to Airtel Prepaid same as @Roushh . Jio is expensive with limited network tower so Airtel prepaid switch is best option.

@andromeda Switch to Airtel prepaid. I have both Airtel & Jio prepaid connection. Airtel plans are much better as compared to Jio. Also Airtel connectivity is much better than Jio. Go with #AirtelPrepaid.

No option if you’re not getting 98 recharge option in wallet. I suggest you to recharge 100 +20 topup recharge from any wallet.

You will get 12gb voucher and ₹99 main account balance. After recharge with myjio from main balance.

For 120₹ you will get total 14gb data and 28days validity.

Thank you very much for your time and inputs, much appreciated.

Here is my thought process, please correct if I goof up any where.
Network coverage: Off late I see JIO penetration a lot, infact it is top-notch in my native(village). Most of my usage is in Bangalore, so I feel there will be no big difference across airtel vs jio

Regarding recharges:
Usually I make use of fc/mk/amazon recharge offers and top up my relatives numbers or pay my post paid bill in small chunks. In this context I feel JIO has greater benefits than airtel. I can topup and get additional data packs and at the same time recharge any pack from main balance seemlessly. To add to all this, most recharge service providers stopped accepting small chunks of payment on postpaid connections, further pushing me to move to prepaid.

With limited topup options from airtel and plan activations from main balance looks fishy at times.

My call usage is also not that huge. The usage has actually increased off-late as jio rolled out IUC and I end up calling JIO numbers back. So most of those calls can actually become incoming or no-charge if I move to JIO.

I feel it makes sense to move to JIO with basic affordable plans and running the show with mk/amazon/fc etc players
