Hello,
I heard about air purifier but one of my friends who got one told me it doesn’t work and that it’s like placebo; but later on, he said her girlfriend changed it for another brand and it’s more efficient. Then how much do I need to spend to get a good and effective air purifier? Why there is so much difference of price sometimes?

Unless you suffer from serious allergies, emphysema, or asthma, I will not recommend an air purifier, especially in India. I don’t want to get into too many details so I will keep this short. By using an air purifier, you are suppressing your body’s natural immune system which will lead to many problems not only for you, but also for your offspring (scientific studies will prove this in the coming years).

Do some research and gather the facts yourself before making a decision. The price of an air purifier primarily depends on the class of the HEPA filter used and its CADR.

I don’t think air purifiers are placebo . I reside in the states and here its common practice to use air purifiers. We use an air purifier recommended by our GP for our son who is suffering from respiratory problems. We actually noticed a gradual improvement in our son’s health after using an air purifier. I also bought one for my Dad back in India and he tells me he wakes up feeling relatively better and no longer has his late night sneezing fits.

I think the health benefits might vary from one individual to another but if you want to invest in an effective air purifier it might cost you anywhere from $100 to $1000 and above depending on the coverage area. Also wrt cost of air purifiers make sure the maintenance cost isn’t too high . Few air purifiers are cheap but you’ll need to replace the filters every 6 months and all that filter cost can add up to a big amount and if it has a big fan which requires lot of power to operate then you are looking at high electricity bills.

So I recommend you invest in a good air purifier only after doing some online research and don’t just go by marketing gimmicks. You can also check out the one we are using since I noticed they have free shipping to India. Its the Clair BF2025 model on this website http://go-clai...m/ . Its very effective considering it just costs $160, comes with a filter which lasts more than a year, consumes very little power and can be switched on 24/7.

I reside in New Jersey.

I guess you can buy whichever brand you please but I just gave you an honest suggestion based on my experience with Clair air purifier and also listed all the pros and cons to factor in before you purchase one.

Now that you have all the information just opt for a room air purifier which suits your needs the best.
