purchased a Redmi Pro from aliexpress ,now how to save custom charges

i have purchased a Redmi Pro at 177$ from aliexpress,as its chineese new year so product is yet to ship,it will ship after 4 february.Seller is friendly,he said that he can mark product as gift or declare lower price,i have read comments and some have said they did not get charged customs but some said they charged 2000rs,so dimers is there anything that you can tell me to help me,what if customs opened my product?If you have anything to share ,please do share but fast.

but 6 people have commented that they did not had to pay any custom charge and one said he paid 500rs in i think assam and one paid 2000 for gujarat and someone also said if they found product to be intentionally priced lower then they will charge 200% penalty.

Mera ek magazine ka subscription h US se, mujhe kabhi bhi custom charges nahi laga.
I have read that AliExpress doesn’t give protection on items marked as Gift. Not sure if it’s true.

Tell him to gift pack with gift wrapper and gift you on your wedding.
Arrey tell him to mark it as gift which will not mention price on package, that’s it.
1) There is high probability of the package been not delivered to you (credit: Indian customs and India post)
2) Just in case you get the parcel, expect a custom charge of 8-10k basis the new policies (the custom charges could exceed the MRP of the product)

It depends on your luck maximum is 20% of product price,if they suspect you intentionally did this expect a penalty also,better dont mark it a gift and use register air parcel,chances of getting it cleared without paying anything is higher in it,In expedited shipping and EMS you will have to pay customs always if product price is more than 10k or if they think product is costly then 10k.
There is NO maximum as such. The import duty you see online is for importers ONLY. The ‘aam aadmi’ gets charged more than that. For a headphone imported last month Delhiites paid Rs.2500 those in Bangalore paid Rs.7000 and I was charged Rs.5000(approx) for the very same item bought from the very same source and shipped by the very same courier and delivered by the courier in the very same lot. Go figure. Not to forget that since I don’t carry an importer’s licence I don’t get to challenge the duty charged.
it is based on luck , sometimes they check the items . Dont gift pack it , just declare anyhow that price is low . So in that case no custom charges .
the seller declared the parcel a mp5 player of 20$ value and he did this to many people,many got saved by customs and only few paid nominal charges like 241 rs or 500rs.Thanks everyone for helping and there was only two methods of shipping,1.alixpress standard shipping(1st) and other was 2.DHL (which will cost 29$ more).
So obviously i chose free method.
Will update when i will get the phone.people i india got it in 15 to 20 days,lets see.

If you are lucky,you might not pay anything at all, if you are unlucky you can pay a lot 2-3 thousand…

I got my phone 3 days back and phone is literally beast and that OLED screen, i had never knew that OLED looks this amazing and black colour wowww, it got 96363 in antutu score, i did not paid any custom and it got delivered within 29 days after shipping. This phone is a head turner, anyone who looks at this says what is this phone? Ohh you got dual cameras? Ohh that brushed metal and specially the usb type-c is hell fast.
This phone is far far ahead of Redmi note 4 or redmi note 3,redmi note 4 has three things best, service center, great software support and easy availability of accessories while redmi pro have
1.OLED
2.USB TYPE C
3.10 CORE MTK Processor that produce 93-99k antutu.
4.Dual cameras,
5.Brushed metal body
6.way too fast than other redmi phones.
7.and still even after all this 3/64gb at 12500.
And no warranty right
