hey, I had applied for a Regalia card and have received Regalia MasterCard. While bank representative said that both cards can be used internationally and will be applicable for cash back promo from HDFC, I think Visa version is better.

Please help me with following :

1. does MasterCard has better promo or Visa?
2. has anyone does a card switch? how much time does it take and does rewards earned on first card gets transferred ?

thanks

All the promo offers from bank remain same on both versions of card.
The only difference i found is in domestic lounge access program, In ahmedabad visa was providing free lounge access but not mastercard.

Visa Offers you would miss out
like Bookmyshow offer for Visa Signature cards
like Amazon 10% max 100 cb each month from 21st to last date till Sep 30th 2019
and so on…

Thanks and yes I also thought that Visa brings out more promotions compared to Mastercard.

Any experience with card conversion requests?

Not much difference, except lounge access, however there are lounges where master is accepted and visa is not, like mumbai terminal 1 domestic lounge
Also bookmy show visa offer you need to be very lucky to get it as its quota is always expired

Lounge access is with MasterCard. although not sure of the features but regalia itself may have a few lounge entries per quarter. Better to check your welcome kit which should have the info or check their website.

Thanks, I did check the features of Regalia card and it does not distinguish between Visa and MasterCard. However I was asking if Visa brings out more promotions or MasterCard and I think ans is Visa.

regalia gives 8 complimentary domestic lounge access per annum and 3 international lounge access through priority pass membership.
but for domestic lounge access is given using VISA/Mastercard lounge access program so we have to check which provider provides access to which lounge.

AFAIK Mastercard has collaboration with more lounges compared to Visa. Offers provided by HDFC would be same on both variants. If I were you, I wouldn’t have bothered.

Hey, I am reviving the topic again as I have another query regarding the regalia card.

I had used the card to load money on my PayZapp account and then used the balance in PayZapp for bill payment. When I check my CC statement, I do not see reward points earned for PayZapp transaction. Someone please suggest from their experience if PayZapp transaction are considered for reward points or not. Also, would it be any different if I use the card to make the bill payment directly through PayZapp instead of first loading it to balance.

Thanks.

I never tried loading to any wallet using HDFC card as they explicitly excluded wallets
Direct usage at merchant via Payzapp shall fetch points as biller name appears of merchant in cart statement

Thanks for response. I will try it this month.

To clarify, I want to use bill pay option in the app. after I select the biller and make payment from there, will the CC statement still reflect the biller details on statement ? Tia

I have HDFC EasyShop Platinum Debit Card and the card offers 1% cashback but it is very difficult to track cashbacks and so I have stopped using debit card for translation unless it’s the only option.

I thinks that your brother would have received “promotional” caskbacks that are offered for all variants of the card. I have never used SmartPay myself but I believe 5% cashbacks is applicable for all hdfc cards.

I also have platinum card and over 2 years i have got only ₹1500 for that 1% cashback and my brother somehow got ₹2763 and he doesn’t use smartpay or anything like that.

I received response from HDFC. Wallet load is not applicable including PayZapp but transaction will be eligible.

Revised Reward points program:

· EasyEMI, e-wallet loading (PayTM, Mobikwik & PayZapp) and transactions (PayTM & Mobikwik) will not accrue Reward points.

· Reward points accrued will be reversed if a retail transaction is converted into SmartEMI.

· Reward points accrued for Insurance transactions will have a maximum cap of 2,000 per transaction.

· Reward points will accrue for the HDFC Bank PayZapp transactions.

· Effective October 17, 2018 Phonepe, Oxigen Wallet And Freecharge transactions will not accrue Reward points.

So if we pay for electricity bill directly from Amazon then it will accrue points?

Yes, based on HDFC CC response. It seem that Amazon is not considered as wallet by HDFC

only PayTM, mobikwik and PayZapp is mentioned in their response.
