Bought JioFi yesterday(4Aug’16 @5PM) and got activation msg today(5thAug) @2:30PM.
Price :Rs2899.
Activation was easy just call 18008901977 from any mobile and answer the queries.
HP device was NOT billed on my name still I got Jio SIM, so its a non issue.
Device is good very small and light. Wifi Range is ok for medium house. Signal strength is good in my place.
Device supports all 3 bands of 4G: 3,5, and 40.
Default settings:
Homepage:192.168.1.1 or 192.168.225.1
User Id:administrator
Password:administrator
You can change SSID, password and other details after login.
Pressing power+WPS buttons simultaneously for 5 secs will reset the device to factory defaults.
You can make calls also from VoLTE mobile handset connected to Jiofi device. I have not tried yet.
Speed is quite good I am getting above 10mbps for downloads, reaching max of 25mbps.
Tried with torrents and got 20+mbps stable. Strangely speed test websites show only 3-4 mbps in their results.

Most probably this SIM may work on any mobile with VoLTE(as per retailer) will update once checked.

My broadband is due for renewal on 13th this month, I would buy this instead of my hathway broadband if I could get a code
Is it worth to buy device at Rs.2899 just to use free internet for 3 month?
I mean already have 2mbps unlimited reliance broadband which cost me around 675 per month with tax. so for 3 month it cost around Rs.2000.
Is it worth terminating existing connection and get JioFI?

And why buy JioFi if you want to enjoy 4g.. Just buy an Airtel 4g modem e5573 for 1700 rs and unlock it.

Truly Unlmited(Calls+Data+Sms+Jioapp services).
I hope after few months this JioFi also can be unlocked.

U can take on your id. U will have to submit print of email in which code is received. Validity i mentioned in the email.

What about heating problem? Does the device heats up upon prolonged usage? I think you missed to check if it heats or not, since you are 24 × 7 using the device.

Usual heating with normal usage. Device is hung near window with good ventilation for 24X7 use but load on device is there only in the evenings to night.

Just took a JioFi 2 device without any invite code from Reliance Digital store (Kolkata)
A thing which is very interesting is that this device supports microsd card upto 32GB making your device like a NAS. The files on the microsd becomes available wirelessly using browser.
Just wondering that has any geniuses on DD been able to access SMB or FTP. That will make it really a neat streamable device (Jio or not)
