Bought JioFi yesterday(4Aug’16 @5PM) and got activation msg today(5thAug) @2:30PM.
Price :Rs2899.
Activation was easy just call 18008901977 from any mobile and answer the queries.
HP device was NOT billed on my name still I got Jio SIM, so its a non issue.
Device is good very small and light. Wifi Range is ok for medium house. Signal strength is good in my place.
Device supports all 3 bands of 4G: 3,5, and 40.
Default settings:
Homepage:192.168.1.1 or 192.168.225.1
User Id:administrator
Password:administrator
You can change SSID, password and other details after login.
Pressing power+WPS buttons simultaneously for 5 secs will reset the device to factory defaults.
You can make calls also from VoLTE mobile handset connected to Jiofi device. I have not tried yet.
Speed is quite good I am getting above 10mbps for downloads, reaching max of 25mbps.
Tried with torrents and got 20+mbps stable. Strangely speed test websites show only 3-4 mbps in their results.

Most probably this SIM may work on any mobile with VoLTE(as per retailer) will update once checked.

1. How long does it take to get the activation link in email for jio account? Hasn’t come to me in the past 1 hour.
2. I read somewhere that we can use Jio calling app to call via the mifi device, is it possible ? since to activate voice calling we have to call 1977 instead of the 1800 number na?
Edit: Ok. Used Jio Join App to enable voice calling
3. The data is being deducted as per the jio website from 2GB, I hope after I have exhausted from 2GB it will still keep working (Newbie question probably 
)

@caks2006407 Mifi got activated… pathetic speeds in the evening… good speed in daytime…
Btw it shows 2GB as bse plan with 100 mins and 100 sms
and one more Preview Unlimited… However data is getting deducted from 2GB Plan… is there something wrong or missing?
Last but not the least. is it real unlimited on is there a cap on download limit?

For me most of the times good speed like 10mbps, for torrents with good seeders it stays above 20mbps. May be in the evening many users use Jio, increased load hence low speeds.
Once in a week or so I found net was slow for a while.
I am unaware of these 2GB base plan…etc hope somebody answer. For me it has been truly unlimited as for many others.

@caks2006407 after exhausting the 2GB, the unlimited preview offer kicks in, no negative balance or anything fishy.
Also calling from a connected android is very much possible, you don’t need VOLTE supported device for that.
Sadly Jio Join is not yet on iOS app store.
The device doesn’t get much hot and is very stable, mine was on for over 16 hours (sometimes on charge, sometimes not), manually switched it off.
Very satisfied in getting the device. I am not after some downloading competition, just want high speed net for smooth Audio & Video Streaming via NetFlix, Saavn, HotStar and now JioPlay without any worries about billing. If Jio stays like this, they might get very much bigger than just being a mobile operator (TV, Home Broadband etc..)

Thx, To keep on 24X7 and save original battery I replaced original battery of JioFi with old(almost dead – can hold charge for 2-3 minutes) Nokia 1110 battery. Do some paper padding to fix the nokia battery inside. It has been working well.Its is always on mains power.
Whole DD is infected by JIO Threads just like quadrooter in Qualcomm devices.

I have purchased JioFi2 few days ago. Entered URL 192.168.1.1 with default credentials administrator/ administrator and then changed my WiFi password. Password changed successfully and then I logout the admin panel.
After few days I again want to change the password but when I tried to login with default credentials administrator/ administrator then it is not able to login. Anybody has idea how I can recover my login credentials because there is no option of Forget Password?
Please respond if anybody has idea about this.

How jio apps determine whether mobile is connected to Jiofi?
I was trying to use jiojoin with Airtel Hotspot having Jio sim but jiojoin did not let me signin.
