I just read on their official website.
They clearly mentioned that it support Mmc up to 32gb only.
But will try ur suggestions.
Thanks
Official spec doesn’t matter. The memory card should be SDXC and not SDHC. And format it with exfat file system on windows or linux. I use to have my 200 GB micro sd card on andriod one phone, which is also officially supports 32 GB. It worked flawlessly ….

If a device supports XC cards then it will support HC cards n not vice versa
In short, Redmi note 3 supports HC cards

It does support HC cards as well. HC cards uses fat file system and it’s maximum capacity is 32 GB, and the phones that came before 2010 supports HC Only. The phones that came after 2010 supports HC and XC. XC was introduced then with xfat file system , so after 32 GB all the sd cards are XC (extended capacity) complaint not HC. In simple HC is old tech, XC is latest. Obviously the older (HC) should work on new phones. But the max capacity is 32 GB. But XC will not work on 5+ yrs older phones …

SDXC cards also support FAT32 and NTFS formats
Few flagship devices explicitly support SDXC cards with NTFC format
You were saying this “The memory card should be SDXC and not SDHC” , it felt like there is a 64GB HC cards . Even the Memory card OP ordered is SDXC. I am not sure if it works with exFAT format but definitely FAT32
PS: I used 200GB MicroSD card with FAT32 format in my redmi note 3.
Ref that Rn3 supports only FAT32 and no exFAT and NTFS support : http://en.miui.com/thread-233409-1-...ml

Yeah. I was also confused since exFAT unlike FAT32 is proprietary and the OEM has to pay royalties to Microsoft(around $5). So budget devices usually dont support it. Usually Custom ROMs are required to enable exFAT support.

Not just RN3 Miui only supports FAT32. I am using cyanogen rom on rn3 and it supports eXfat. If you ‘re micro sd formatted to eXfat. Miui will detect it as a corrupted storage and ask to format and the miui will format it to fat 32. Once you format the card within miui it will work fine. But you use a fat32 formatted micro sd card directly it might not detect the memory card, that’s the problem the OP faces …

Not just MIUI, all midrange devices dont support exFAT
and not all custom roms support exFAT, except santosh cm 13 not sure if official parth cm 13 supports exFAT
even QC 3.0 is supported by hacks via radon kernel. As most of th users dont use custom roms, the only way to use 64GB+ sd cards is to format it to FAT32 format. For some devices sd card needs to be formatted to FAT32 using pc

I formatted the card with eXfat file partition. It is not the devices that support it. It is just the kernal that should support it. If the official cyanogen supports eXfat the forked versions also should support it, since most of the custom roms are build on cm or aosp source. I used to have 64 GB micro sd card on my galaxy ace, which was an ancient device, The pantech burst I had also supported 64 GB card out of the box, so I don’t agree with the point that mid range devices don’t support big memories. I already mentioned about this, with custom kernels everything is possible.

To get a working kernel for redmi note 3 cm/aosp it almost took 3 or 4 months from launch. Initially Unofficial CM 13 for redmi note 3 by Santosh only had exFAT support and he never revealed his sources/device tree so rest of the custom rom didnt have it. Then in August Parth released official cm nightlies (not sure if it supports exFAT), there are lots of custom roms based on AOSP for redmi note 3 which doesnt support exFAT). If we can link everything then everything is related to custom kernel be it double tap to wake / quick charge / sd card different format
I still standby by statement, almost all midrange and budget devices dont have exFAT/NTFS support
Ex : Moto G3/Turbo, Lenovo K5 Plus, Vibe P1m, Yureka/Plus …… (most of the devices that support upto 32GB cards officially like redmi note 3)
Check XDA you will find more devices
If you use Custom/Kernel on those devices, as i said everything is possible for popular devices with good XDA support. Some/most of the devices like Lenovo K series, coolpad series dont even have unlock bootloader

Agreed with you @getready bhai, since file system is kernel property, it all depends on the kernel options which are enabled, however not everything can be enabled using kernel only since some of the options are provided in firmware by the manufactures.
