Hello everyone, I made a txn of 38k on 18th march with my sbi credit card and owing to lockdown the order got canceled and refund received today i.e 1st April. The monthly statement generated on 19th March and 38k txn got billed. Now since the refund has been processed should I pay my bill (including 38K) or should I avoid it. Please advise as I can’t speak to customer care
PS: Total Limit is 55k

It is opposite bro. OP has to pay in this case otherwise be ready for fine.
FYI
Dear Customer, Jan 21, 2020
Greetings from ICICI Bank.
We have received merchant credit refund on your ICICI Bank Credit Card XX9004 for INR 4499 on January 20, 2020 from FLIPKART PAYMENTS.
We wish to inform you that this refund will not be considered as payment. Hence, we request you to pay the Minimum Amount Due by the due date.
I haven’t seen these kinds of msg from any of my cc.
U have to pay bro the same thing happened to me 1 year back in sbi I dint pay and I got fine also and affected my score also
My problem is I dont have extra money as I havent received my salary yet. Also I cannot confirm with customer care as they are only taking call for dispute txns and blocking of the card and not entertaining these kind of enquires
In this case Pay only minimum amount due plus all pending amount if any except 38k (refund already u got credited in the card as u said)
I think I have read similar problem in a thread earlier. I remember OP had got fined with late fees and interest too.
In your case amount is quite big. Intrtest would also be quite a bit.
Try and speak to them and make sure you don’t getting fined.
Don’t pay and mail them
Been in this situation many times,
you just need to pay minimum amount due, rest will get adjusted
you can use the amount u pay somewhere else later on
What about interest, were u charged interest from the purchase date till refund date?
CitiBank and HDFC adjust refund against last bill – myExp
Other banks like ICICI does not adjust.
pay minimum amount due
Even though citi has same t&c mentioned where they say merchant credits arent considered towards payments, just remembered they did adjusted it once for me
pay minimum amount plus some extra manually before due date.
and just pray
Happened with me.
Open SBI app
See if Ur card is showing credit limit full 55k
If u have 55k u don’t need to pay.
If Ur credit limit is (55k-refund amount). in this situation u need to pay remaining amount.
Pay at least minimum amount due + other spent amount.
Butt, I wonder why transaction done on 18 is billed on 19. Transactions settlement takes 2-3 day and settled TXNs only billed, not unsettled one (RPs also credits after txn is settled). For me transactions done 1 day before statement date are not billed in that cycle and billed in next cycle only.
OP, What is you statement date ?
P.S : Above analysis is only for SBI CC and done by me only to win ANALYST badge for 2020
P.P.S : Those who consider Later part of P.S as humour/entertainment can nominate me for entertainer badge as well next year. As now @P_A_N_K_A_J is now taking 1000 per comment, though I am not interested in Entertainer badge.
Just got the message from SBI with this FAQ link :-

Just check available credit limit, if it matches with total credit limit then no need to worry…
No need to pay if amount is refunded before due date
