Dear fellow dimers,
I brought a laptop from an Acer authorized center model ES1-132 -CSUF.
https://www.amazon.in/Acer-ES1-132-11-6-inch-In...
I bought this only because of a budget constrain and due to its light weight. Previously it had good reviews
The laptop is terribly slow, it takes a lot of time to boot and hangs if I even open multiple tabs on Chrome. It came with a 2gb ram and I was lucky enough to get 8 gb kingston ram from olx for 2.2k last month. if you read the reviews the worst part is that it runs only windows 10. I really need some help in this regard.
An upgrade to an SSD along with the 8GB ram will hopefully make it usable. I already have the 8 gb ram. Can anyone give me suggestions on an SSD preferably 120/240. Constrain again is the price. The laptop is still under extended warranty and they will charge me every time it is opened. So I plan on installing the RAM,SSD and OS in one go.I have zero idea about ssd and what to check when buying one. Also this one doesn’t have a dvd drive.
1) best value for money SSD 120/240
2) Any way to install Win 7 on it so that it can use it smoothly.
kindly help. I haven’t used the laptop properly in months.

Haha.. classic example…@ OP: In your case, best way is to figure out a way to install windows 7 on your laptop considering its specifications..
Ram upgrade or SSD would improve performance to a certain extent, your processor in this case needs to be upgraded..

Unless you need much storage go for one of these:
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B076...6V
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B079...Y5

Or the 240 GB variants of these, costs about 30% more.
It will definitely improve the performance of your laptop.
You can also look out for good exchange offers with exchange bonus.

Buy the SSD above and install it. You can also buy Hard disk case and use that hard disk as external drive.

Thanks a ton guys. Didn’t expect such super fast reply. I will definitely buy the SSD. The main problem still persists though. Is there any way to install win 7 in this one? The processor is too slow and it will make a serious difference if I could install win7. My parents can also use it then .Especially getting rid of the unnecessary updates all the time and ease of use. The reviews say the bios is hardcoded or something. It is hard to get drivers too. Idk where else to ask. I hope someone here can help

install a light weight Ubuntu. Try Xubuntu. The desktop is very similar to Win XP.
the amazon link says Linux. how did you get Win 10 on it? if it already has ubuntu installed, you can install xfce desktop on it or even the full Xubuntu directly. https://itsfoss.com/install-xfce-desktop-xu...u/

Sorry to bump this thread again but I took my laptop to a friend and he told me it will be difficult to install Windows as the model is UEFI boot enabled. Can anyone help on this ? I have no idea what this is. Is it possible to install win 7 on UEFI models?

You can install windows 7 using CD drive in UEFI mode, but windows 7 has reached EOL / EOS.

Can’t you set the boot mode to legacy mode in bios?

I rang up the service center here and they agreed to install win 7 on it. I will have to spend 500 as service charge but atleast finally I can use my laptop without much issues. I have to buy an SSD now and out of the above two options I plan on going with WD posted above. But I May seeing a smaller one with the same price. Says PC SSD and when I went through the comments, surprisingly it can be used in laptops also with something known as M2 port.
Here is the SSD Western Digital 240GB Internal Solid State Drive (WDS240G2G0B) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B078WYS5K6/ref=cm_sw_r...
How is this different from the one posted initially and anyone knows whether my laptop has an M2 port? I am confused because it is a netbook and much smaller in size. Which one is faster since that will be the only other criteria are prices are same!. Thanks for all the replies.

Guys, thanks a lot for all the help. I added 8gb ram (total 10) and 120 gb SSD and a light version of Windows 10 as installing win 7 didn’t work out. The laptop is fast and responsive now and I have installed bare basic programs like Opera browser and office. Thanks for all the input. Wouldn’t have been possible without the help of you dimers
