Hi, I want to invest on stock market and for that I’ve decided upon mainly two brokers ie Zerodha and RKSV. Please help me out with the registration process. So Putting some questions here :

Zerodha :

1. On Online account opening form I can see I can upload documents like pan card, aadhar card as identity and address proof. Now what kind of photo I shall upload ie the original colored photo of the pan card, Aadhar card taken by a camera or scanned xerox copy of the pan and Aadhar cards with self signature ?

Zerodha Replied : Photograph taken by a camera of the original Document should do.

2. After filling all the necessary details online there’s option for paying online. My question is if I pay online do I still need to attach a check of Rs. 300 ?

Zerodha Replied : Cancelled cheque will be still required as proof of your bank account.

3. If I pay and submit the form online Do I still need to take print out of the completed form(s) and send it along a Rs. 300 check to zerodha ?

Zerodha Replied : Yes.

My Concerns :

1. I’m concerned about the last answer I got from them. I mean If I pay online and submit the documents will they open an my account online based on the Pan and AAdhar photograph and the payable fees. But then how shall I send them the cancelled cheque. I mean I can’t just send them a cancelled cheque in an envelope without any sort of forms.

2. If a pay online and after paying will I get an option print out my completed online application so that I can take a print out of the completed form by myself and send with with only a cancelled cheque, attested xerox copies of aadhar and pan card.

It would be really helpful if someone recently opened an online account on Zerodha can help me out. Because the account opening part of Zerodha is a bit confusing. On the Knowledge base articles about account form opening they did not mention anything about online payment. They said only to attach a Rs. 300 cheque along with the form and courier it to them.

3. Do Zerodha perform any sort of IPV for account opening ? If so what;s the process. BTW, I’m from Kolkata.

Choose the option of sending the documents, else zerodha will take 100 rs extra and print the documents and courier you, which you will need to sign, and courier them again.

IPV Will Happen via video chat,so dont worry.

It’s not as complicated as u think . Firstly fill up the online form . Attach the requested proofs during singup . Bank statement of 1 month should suffice if ur doing only equity or last 6 months if ur also doing fno .

For payment it’s simple contrary to what the other Dimer mentioned pay it during the creation of account .This will ensure that as soon as Zerodha receives your document it will be processed and account opened .

For cancelled cheque if u provide ur self attested salary slip and 1/6 month bank statement then you don’t need to submit cancelled cheque .

Anyways no harm to submit cancelled cheque .

For ipv I don’t think it’s mandatory but u can do it through a webcam or use manycam to fake a webcam from PC

Also they accept the documents in their branch offices so visit the one in ur city if u want to be sure that ur account is opened without any hassle

Thanks bro. Say I filled up the online forms, made the payment with providing proofs like Pan card photo, Aadhar card photo, Bank Statement in PDF format ( is this acceptable ? ).

Do I still need to send a cancelled cheque as per Zerodha rep. or any sort of other documents through courier ?

Also Zerodha says only for F&O you need to provide income proof but for equity trading the same is not needed.

BTW, looks like you have opened an account with zerodha online. So while submitting proofs like pan card copy did you gave them self attested pan card xerox copy ( using scanned image ) or a simple snap of the pan card photo is enough ?

Also If I submit all of the required proofs online Do I need to still send some / what documents offline via courier ?

Their is also a simple way where you don’t even need to fill their form just print their applications form and sign it on all the boxes that required your signature and send them along with you pan card, aadhar(xerox of all & self attested) and bank statement(it should be attested by bank) and a cancelled cheque leaf and send it to them via Indian Speed post(Cheapest and secure) and they will all the things.

Also after the receive your application, for kyc they ask for Webcam verification of your Pancard which can easily done using front camera your phone(I have done it using same) and your account will be activated in 24 hours. Also you need to fund you account Rs. 5000 once which you can withdraw anytime after your account will be activated.

I always thought Zerodha or RKSV didn’t had any charges means any charges other than from pennies.

Please share if you have insights into this.

Thanks

Just stall them for 4-5 days and they will beg u to open the account and offer u form filling by agent who will collect from ur doorstep without any charges.
This is when i told them that i am considering other options as well and I will take some time to evaluate my best options.
Tncs ur city should have zerodha office https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif otherwise I m sure they won’t send someone from different city . I m from delhi

Got a call from a zerodha rep. already. He sent me two attachments for account opening thinking I was not able to find the form download link, Duh !

Anyway, zerodha should improve on the Knowledge base they provide on the website. Their account opening images on help pages are not matching their real payment page/ online account opening forms. Also there’s no option for opening / paying for a demat account online now ( though hey still kept old picture of the same on help pages ).

Be very sure they are going to be bugged as long as their description and account opening procedure don’t match together. Zerodha has offices though they are a little far from where I live I’m considering them as the last possible option.

In the mean time please share your experiences with Zerodha account opening so I can get a clearer picture.

Takes less than a week to open ur account . Just sign in the columns . Better to read what ur signing but if u don’t want to hassle reading entire booklet just sign and affix ur photos at the places mentioned .

And as someone said request them for a home pickup of ur form if u don’t want to travel to their branch . Also ipv I couldn’t do from my phone so used PC ( if u don’t have webcam spoofing is easy through manycam ) . U will get ur trading id in mostly 2 days from the day ur form reaches their HO . Be careful on the address and ur name. It should match the proofs ur providing
