Surge S1 and Mi5C – Xiaomi’s own processor and first phone with it.

Surge S1 is Xiaomi’s first gen processor being developed indigenously. It took a period of 28 months since 16th October 2014 to come out with their own processor.

Xiaomi’s moto was to come up with a processor that can be mass produced and has a perfect balance between performance and power efficiency.

The central processor has 4 A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 4 A53 cores (big little design) clocked at 1.4GHz built on 28nm High Performance Computing process. Has in built Mali-T860 Quad-Core GPU which is 40% more power efficient that Mali-T760 GPU.

The embedded 32 bit high performance DSP chip ensures lossless voice reproduction and voice quality improvement apart from eliminating background noises.

14 bit dual ISP chips helps in producing better photos. Improves camera light sensitivity by 150% and reduces noise in low light.

Other features include chip level security and upgradable baseband through OTA updates.

XIaomi processor name is pinecone.

now redmi note 4 is using advanced 14nm FinFET technology, thats why its size is little low compared to redmi note 3
but this pinecone processor on 10nm tech, so they’re mostly planned for flagship models, not for budget models.

Atleast they escape from snapdragon and Mediatek in future (not now)

Offtopic:
Redmi note 5 is expected to launch with snapdragon 652 or 653 (with type c USB https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif , thats already confirms they’re not going to use for budget mobiles
