Delivery is a bad idea…
From bikes to pollution… And they use plastic bags…
Delivery charge is there.

Only benefit is cashbacks using mobile wallets or cards and coupons…

Why don’t they start a payment solution ?! At local stores.
We eat or but at local stores, but chooses to pay via swiggy ….
Nature is saved, still or money is saved, swiggy need not recruit and give salary to delivery guys, we too well get cashbacks….

Current scenario – each wallets are independent. And as there are convenience charges for each, stores were not interested to keep all. But swiggy has all and these waters gives cashbacks not to individual stores, and hence only swiiggy payments can get cashbacks from wallets to us for local stores.

Magicpin gives cashback by simply buying in local stores, if they bring payments (with wallets and big offers) they will rule Indian market in a new trend…..

Also, Paytm is in every turns of India. Already they have started advertisement of other bank/wallet UPI apps in their Paytm upi payments on merchant sites…

They too will boom, if they incorporate other wallets into them while paying local merchants like phonepe & if they offer discounts/cb like magicpin/swiggy

If i ignore the very first line, u have got some creative ideas:) And i believe creativity and sharing thoughts openly should be encouraged bcoz that’s where many good things start taking their very first form!!

Delivery charge – yes, it is bad, but it is a part of the game and reality…it is more like passing the actual cost to customer, at least part of what remains after adjusting for economies of scale, bunching of orders in same location, etc. Within this modelm it can only disappear if somebody/seller absorbs it (the way they do not charge as 2% MDR for credit cards), or it gets cross-subsidized in some other way!!

At the core, I think it depends the business model and how they really earn the profit that could possibly explain why they do it this way and not that / other way. Probably, they do not see a possibility of a good and sustainable earning business in the other way.

E.g.
From where exactly and why swiggy pays those cashbacks? SOmebody must be funding it and would have some expectations in retrurn…
Is swiggy merely delivering or has tie up with restauarants taking a share from the restauarant’s margin?
Is swiggy earning in ways other than getting directly from seller’s own margin?
Is swiggy a play on wallet only like paytm, or it is totally different with wallet tie ups being merely on side of its overall vaue chain?

Taking it further, we can even try to understand how wallets themselves are giving such cashbacks, and whether such cashback concept or the extent of it a temporary phenomenon or it will stay forever even when customer acquisition targets get largely met?
