Terrible experience with Lenovo Service

My terrible experience with Lenovo Services.

I bought a Lenovo Z50-70 in February,2015 with 1 year ADP and 2 years of warranty. An year later, there were minor problems with laptop the lower body was detached from upper body, therefore I consulted Lenovo customer care. There was no breakage and no need of any part replacement, but they changed the parts without request. The problems could have been solved with few repairs. The engineer visited and simply changed the parts. Even on asking, the root of the problem was not fixed. As a result same problem occurred in April.

This time there was a breakage. There was no mishandling of any type. Lenovo denied to provide any type of service and I was asked to pay, even though laptop was in warranty. After a lot of efforts Lenovo agreed to repair it for free. It took many tweets and calls to get it done.

When they sent so called “engineer” who is actually just a mechanic, I asked him to check and repair the problem due to which it happened again. I asked him to check for the cause of the problem many times but no action was taken. Even this time the parts were blindly changed.

Since the cause of the problem wasn’t fixed at all, the same problem occurred again within 15 days of repair. On contacting Lenovo for first time via call, The service center guy was took on call. I was said a engineer will be revisiting to check the problem on Monday (I immediately reported the problem to Lenovo, it was Saturday).

On Monday when no one visited I called the service center the service center guy rudely talked and denied to visit for checking. He said he hasn’t received any kind of mail from Lenovo regarding this service request.

On calling Lenovo customer care they just keep on escalating complaints and no one does anything about it. On contacting them on twitter they claim that there is laptop mishandling and I have to pay this time for it.

There is no mishandling of any kind with device. Paying for service is no big deal but what if it happens again because of their bad service, all money will go in wain and this will keep happening again and again.

In case, they are believed this time and they repair it perfectly after I pay them then their free services were clearly fake and they were fooling the customers to buy the laptop for free service.

I request everyone not to buy Lenovo laptops due to their poor service and fooling tactics they play on customer.

They have actually outsourced the service to Wipro(IIRC) earlier they franchised the model to any local guy who applied for the same. So whatever the issue be, you have to describe it to the customer care and they send the parts required to the local service franchise who would perform the mechanical job in a mechanical fashion. They are no Dell, they are dumb.

I had similar experience with my laptop. The Seagate HDD crashed under 6 months. I played around and fooled them to kept the old HDD and the new one too. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif Then just after the 1 year warranty expired, the keyboard gave in. Then the screen went off. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Total cost of repair:
Rs.800 for keyboard+Rs.4000 for Dell original screen= Rs.4800 plus numerous times had to run to the service center.

All because pooooor quality of Lenovo laptops. Very flimsy plastics used which bend if I pick up the laptop by one hand. I know that’s the reason for the screen to malfunction.

So next time before you think that you are ‘saving’ a couple of thousands on Lenovo brand realise that in the long term it will cost you more than a Dell. So why not just buy a Dell and have peace of mind. I have the same policy for Seagate HDDs.
