Thinking about buying an AC from snapdeal...this is what they deliver!!

I purchased an AC from snapdeal on 14th July, it was shipped on 16th through Gati couriers. It was supposed to be delivered on 19th but came for delivery on 24th.

This was the condition when it came for delivery. Forget about wooden packings, bubble wraps. The carton itself is damaged from both ends, no packing inside the carton, inner unit’s falling out of the box. The outer unit box also came in open, no adhesive tape used anywhere. I refused to accept the delivery and sent back the parcel to be returned back to where it came from. Who can say it’s a new product, it seems a factory second piece or they made it into one while in transit.

Since then it’s been a week, no satisfactory reply received till date. Product is stll lying at the local Gati office, getting calls daily from Gati’s senior executives compelling me to accept the parcel in this condition as according to them it’s only a carton damage. No damage has occurred to any component. How the hell do you know sitting back there in Delhi? Even snapdeal’s response seems to be a similar one.

What about their TRUSTPAY??? guaranteeing money back within 7 days. There is no such thing as customer satisfaction for them. Now my money is blocked,God knows for how long? Can’t purchase another till money is reverted back.

So peoples BEWARE of Snapdeal while making such purchases. You could be one of me someday somewhere…

Your post made up my mind. I would prefer to stay in this garmi than having to deal with something like that. Thanks a ton for your post. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

He has writen money is blocked so must be a prepaid order.
I sometimes feel that you should place a COD order on such sites.,the costliest item available on COD then refuse to accept the delivery.
What say any legal implications of doing that??

he can always refuse delivery
max is that those thugs can charge for shipping cost for which they would try to rip him-off 2-3 k but you are safe from this also because of photos.

ask the bank for chargeback

Since Gati seems to be very interested in making you accept it, it seems very likely that they have damaged the thing at their end. Of course that does not absolve Snapdeal and their so-called TrustPay of anything.

I’v been meaning to buy a TV from them, but after reading this and also the broken and refurbished laptop fiasco in another thread, I’m not going to have the guts to do it.

I had similar experience with snapdeal , courier was bluedart , i refused delivery, got calls from bluedart to accept , got calls from snapdeal, i would explain to the robots calling from snapdeal that product is damaged ( it was visibly damaged ) , they would listen & at the end say “should we deliver the product” happened twice , i assumed that they will resend replacement but these idiots sent the same damaged item form the couriers office, these fools dont understand that i will not accept a damaged item, were they not even listening when i explained the situation? It was only a small amount & i got refund after i posted on their facebook.

Yes it was a prepaid order. Btw I don’t feel we should fall to such low standards as these people seem to have wherein they fail to fulfill their commitment towards customer satisfaction. Atleast my conscience won’t allow me to resort to such unethical stuff. I can understand the costs they incur while shipping a product, packing it and all that but they should understand from the customers perspective too. Unless that happens online shopping can not advance to a higher level in India.

Yes it must be damaged by them, otherwise these courier companies they would never accept a parcel in that condition. As these parcels come insured so it is their responsibility to ensure their safety. Moreover I don’t think it’s only a damage, it looks like a deliberate attempt to open these parcels. Otherwise how could you explain missing tapes and completely torn away carton.

May be its Gati who is at fault or else I don’t see any reason a seller will send such expensive and sensitive stuff packed like this.

Deal Newbie Deal Newbie

Definitely Gati is at fault here buy why did the seller or snapdeal(I don’t know who does the packing) didn’t pack it properly. They should make sure that the product is packed in such a manner that it doesn’t get damaged on the way. Previously I’ve ordered two big items, split AC once and they came in bubble wrapped in wooden packings. Was expecting equivalent this time so snapdeal is at fault here too.

May be it’s just that they’ve mentioned that unpacking of the product will be done by the manufacturer in 3-4 days and in their effort to provide a better service they’ve sent it unpacked already so that the customer saves his crucial 3-4 days,I guess:-?

this is the reason for 90% of website failures, 0 knowledge on packing, and no responsibility after getting order.

I have been shopping online from the past 2-3 years. I’ve been cautious though in what to buy and from where to buy but this is the first time I had a regret for making an online purchase.
For me Letsbuy was the best site when it came to online shopping, best prices,amazingly packed items,timely delivery,good customer care if not the best. But it’s no more. Missing Letsbuy:-{

+100 to that. I ordered a split AC from Letsbuy last year (1.5 ton Samsung 5 star) and they sent it by surface from Delhi to Mumbai by Safex in 3 days. Initially I was shit scared. But when the parcel came I was like ecstatic. They had packed it in wooden carton (complete all sides) and then inside kep a bubble wrap and within that the AC units were kept. There was no way in hell that the wooden crates would have got damaged in transit. It was one of the BEST PACKED items I had ever seen. Even if I had booked it in offline store in Mumbai, that guy would have bought the AC in his tempo with only the carton as outer covering. Letsbuy’s packing was simply outstanding. I sorely miss that site now.

Btw if you paid by CC, why don’t you initiate a chargeback or atleast threaten them with that. Ur resolution speed would improve.

We all want the maximum packaging material for protecting our products, but just imagine how wasteful it is. Imagine the tree that gave up its life to provide protection to your A.c. And its not just wastage and ecological unfriendliness, but also the cost. Who knows, maybe considerable packaging costs was one of the factors that drove Letsbuy out of business.

Fact is that no matter how much extra packaging material sellers use, the courier guys are more than capable of vandalizing it. I’v received many damaged articles in my online purchases, and what has shocked me the most is the attitude of the courier guys. Several think that since e-com site use lot of packaging, they can handle the parcels as they like. Even decimate the outer packaging. Couple of times I returned parcels that were most certainly damaged inside and the courier guys tried to convince me how its impossible to damage anything inside because of the extra padding. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_surprised.gif And these are just the delivery guys. The parcels obviously go thru some very rough hands en route, before they come to the “last mile” delivery guys. Unless these people are trained to handle things better, online purchases, esp. of expensive and more damage prone goods is going to remain a risky affair. Some sellers will use even more packaging and obviously pass the bill to us consumers.

Then there are sellers (or their staff) who vandalize goods before or in the process of packaging – bought a (Hatchette offer) book from Shopclues. Accepted the box as there were no signs of outward damage. Upon opening I discovered that the book was damaged. Seemed like the packaging guy used considerable force to stuff the book inside the smaller box. Result being the book was bent and crumpled, and the binding at the spine completely separated. Shopclues accepted the return, after I sent photos. But then one needs time to deal with all this things, and you don’t get compensated for that.
