guys, i am currently unemployed.
I thought about what life would be like if I become a farmer.

important note:- i will never take loans. I have been reading since my childhood that “the farmer committed suicide because he was unable to repay the loan amount due to losses in farming”

There are some queries.

1) what is the minimum investment amount to become a farmer?

2) what are the advantages & disadvantages if i become a farmer?

3) how can i protect my farm from floods?

4) please suggest a crop that is very easy for cultivation and profitable?

No advantage, Sometimes you won’t even get back your investment.

Very happy so see a thread like this, I’m from Hyderabad..Would like to know your location. I also have interest in Organic Farming (Or Other type Different Farming – I mean Commercial farming). Have some agricultural land already, gave to one person to grow “Mirchi”, in future i want to involve myself.

You can try flowers farming, but only after getting all info from local farmer who’s into flowers farming.

1. Investment depends on the crop which you are going to grow.
2. Disadvantages are no surety of income if you are doing traditional farming. Labour shortage even if you pay them the amount they get while working in cities.

You’re right, but it’s reality, you can’t deny it. My friends told me, once they went to sell onions to yard using tractor and they got so low price that they had to add some ₹ from their pocket to pay tractor rent.

If you have so much land, then take loans on that land and do farming too, and enjoy your life.
Your childrens would suffer. That’s what many farmers are doing today.
They’re also not wrong, they can’t earn enough by farming then loan & enjoy is the only option left.

Even I gave a thought about it, but uncertainty of rains/weather made me drop the idea.
The thing with farming is that there is nothing for sure and risks are very high,
even with schemes(crop insurance schemes like RaithuBharosa) you will get only some percent in case of crop damage; and you have to bear the loss!!

Then you can do it for someone else, like a job, farm for owner, all investment & labour cost given by owner & you do work and manage & share profit.

Yes if your land is not more than acre. And also if you are growing vegetables you can do it with minimum labour support. But if you want to do it professionally you will need the help of labour.

How much land you have ?
The main issue is selling not farming.
Where you are located ?
How far from City?
What you are planning to produce ?
Take loan from banks don’t worry about interests.banks can provide you loan on very low interest.

Since you don’t have land. You should start farming mushroom but first check with your locality. Mushroom requires very less space and gives good profit.
To learn about this you Can join your nearest krishi training centre.
