UK launches contact tracing app

UK launches contact tracing app today

The United Kingdom government has launched its first test of a coronavirus contact tracing app today on a small island off the south coast of England.

Using bluetooth technology, the app will alert users if they have been near someone who has tested positive for the virus. Developed by the National Health Service, the app will also upload information to a central database to help public health experts study the behavior of the virus.

Unlike Germany, the UK has chosen not to use technology jointly developed by Google and Apple that would only store data locally on individual devices. Instead, the anonymous user data will be encrypted and stored by the health authority in keeping with UK privacy rules.

Some people was worried “why bluetooth was used and not gps” and “privacy concern – goverment storing data” in aarogya setu app. our app was developed and implemented earlier, still no praise.

Apple and Google are working together for a similar Bluetooth based contact tracing app.
And I believe unless we develop vaccine we really need such apps.
And Bluetooth is best way to implement it

It is not first or second..it is all about accuracy + avoid unwanted torture
No one gives a shit about something that produces inaccurate results

Also the use of our so called App was practically “Zero” till now..so what’s the point?
Disregarding the privacy/security concerns…..whatever its worth is (Can see 5lakh ratings so atleast 10 lakh downloaded the app and using it?) will be proved in sometime (Good/Bad) as the lockdown had been unofficially lifted in majority of cities n towns across the country ( which I doubt again?…the so called app developers couldn’t even comply with GooglePlay guidelines)

Nobody knows neither uk, Germany Google or apple that these apps gonna work or not it’s a test. And a very initial phase of a new thing which might be required in future in such epidemics.
