want to assemble a pc (help needed)

friends I own a laptop with i5 but I need a normal desktop with core2 duo , 4gb ram , windows 7,hdd 160gb will do . that i just need for normal online work and browsing ..
so can any tech geek suggest me which motherboard to buy or tell me the config which I should buy . currently I have my old cabinet at home so I will assemble myself.
any advices .

core 2 duo is usless; the lga 775 socket is obsolete
go for any core i series processor

not exactly useless… it depends on the type of work and the budget… they’re quite cheap btw in second-hand market.
My e4500 processor with 2GB of RAM is serving me quite well for last 7-8 years. I mostly use it for browsing and watching movies.

Actually buying new gear has become a fancy even if it is not being completely utilized. People always try to future proof their build but would get bored of it in 2-3 years. If not for some work related or hard core gaming a simple pentium dual core with 2-3gb of ram would suffice.
Assembling PC is a kid’s job for me I have assembled PC when I was so small now I have left doing this business but I can easily help you but for that you have to promise me one thing before that
