I want to port my number to airtel. However they are asking ridiculous amounts(300 for 1 mnth, 600 for 3) for first recharge and saying that it can be done at a store only and not online (FRC). Is this correct? I found a local shop who is willing to port for 30 bucks. Should I go ahead with it?

unfortunately others are just as bad. Can’t help it
Vodafone also taking 500 as FRC and saying its mandatory and only possible from voda store

Has anyone tried not going the frc way and paying online?
Bharti’s National retail head might get multiple Big-Os reading such a tiitle.
what’s the source of such gibberish you got¿
who pays 30Rs; or even 2paise to Telcos to become their customer.
Okay, fools in my own household willingly did pay even 100/ per Maro connection. But that’s diff.
Off what i know, the minimum FRC in Airtel is 76Rs./28 days and it gives some 25Rs or so main balance. 150 or so for calling pack FRC are there too.
I have a jio connection that keeps dropping every time I decide to use it. Multiple transactions of mine have gotten stuck bcoz of their shitty internet. Average speed drops down to 1-9 kbps around 10-11am. Jio cc say its because of many ppl using their network due to which speeds are slow(so what should I do? Upgrade ur infra for u?) In the end decided to port to airtel but after these initial hiccups and loot tactics by airtel, again feeling iffy about my decision
👆🏽≠ fanboyism. but just consumer insight/perspective
Yes you can. If its prepaid connection you are not bound to recharge with such huge amount. Rs. 35 will be enough..
We can.. but where to go for port.. they aren’t willing to do so without getting FRC benefits
In my case I switched from Vodafone to jio the guy in the jio store asked RS.500 and I also created a thread for that and o called jio care they said nothing would be charged so I requested to jio store boy to talk with jio care then what he did it for free
500/- he probably asked for 399/- (84days plan..most popular may be) + 99/- (prime charge)..
U could have asked to go for lower plans or activation without recharge, saying u would recharge urself.. they give the sim then.. I did port a family num. recently
Anyone know the FRC amount for airtel in telangana?
148 , 248 , 495 FRC
148 UL calling + 1 GB 28 days
248 UL Call +1.4gb / days 28 days
495 1.5 GB + UL 90 days .
If you going to Port (Vodafone Idea & Airtel ) they demand 500 ( 495 plan ) .
Just get sim card from local sim distributor (free) & do online Small FRC . If you don’t do FRC In 2 days , sim may be deactivate .
what are those 300 and 600 plans?
the same as 248 and 495 plans mentioned by @onlineuser7
My retailer forced me to do 350 frc for airtel. I ported idea postpaid to airtel prepaid
Offtopic : I did see a thread , where someone mentioned 35 recharges of Airtel are getting queued up. Am I wrong / delusional?
If someone could help.
In idea it queue up. Not sure of airtel
That’s not true since the store recharge the dealership gets more margin .you can still do this online maybe you mr get some disc.also
I ported out from airtel to jio and I am really missing airtel now
jio gives 1-2 mbps sped where airtel used to give 10-16 mbps
I tried to complain via the jio chat but the app say says you are getting 2 mbps that is good
will wait 90 days and will again port out
what a brave choice
