Guys I already have 3 cards

  • SBI Simply Click
  • CITI Rewards
  • HDFC Diners Premium

Please tell me what are the other best available cards at present

My shopping trend: More than 90% online https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif
Free or Renewal Fee less than 1000 will be better for me as I have to divide the total spend among all cards
Let me know if lifetime free offer/Fee weaver is there, then renewal fees will not be there.

I have sorted down some.

  • SBI Prime
  • IndusInd Iconia
  • HSBC VISA Platinum
  • Standard Chartered Manhattan Platinum
  • Axis My Zone/Privilege
  • AMEX Gold/Rewards
  • Kotak Royale Signature Credit Card
  • YES First Preferred Credit Card

thanks in advance

Applied For:

  • HSBC VISA Platinum (Approved)
  • AMEX Rewards (Approved: they are really fast and professional)
  • IndusInd Iconia (10K Shoppers Stop) (Got option for Signature Legend decided to skim due to huge joining fee, but will upgrade to this next year as I can use the SS vouchers easily and it has got 0% cash withdrawal fee)

As per review SBI Prime is good only if you shop offline as compared to SBI Simply Click. SBI Simply Click has 5x Reward Points on online transactions as compared to 2x on SBI Prime except some categories. I had a long thought about getting Prime but then dropped the idea as i don’t shop offline.

@nofpd Simply click is the best online shopping friend for rewards. you are already owning this card. i think next best will be Amex rewards if you are ok with Renewal Fee.

Since you mostly seem concerned about the renewal fees, let me simply point out that out of the ones you have mentioned, the following cards are totally fee-free (apply card-on-card basis if you have already completed at least one year with your first credit card):

  1. HSBC VISA Platinum
  2. Kotak Royale Signature Credit Card
  3. YES First Preferred Credit Card

IndusInd also doesn’t have annual fees, but they do charge a one-time/joining fee. Many fee options are there depending on the welcome benefits and even those options vary based on the card level (Iconia, Signature Legend, etc.). AFAIK, they will NOT waive off the joining fee (exceptions might be there, especially for their premium savings/current account holders).

Every time you take a new Credit Card, there is a temporary negative impact on your CIBIL score. So be moderate in your actions.

actually it should increase the CIBIL score

Two factors are involved here, which have an impact upon CIBIL score.

Too Many Loans/Credit Cards – If a borrower applies for too many loans or credit cards, then every time a bank checks his/her credit report or score for processing the loan or credit card application it is counted as a hard enquiry. Too many hard enquiries can result in reduction of the score.

BUT the following is true as well.

High credit usage – If a borrower uses over 30% of his/her credit limit, then it negatively affects his/her score as it shows his/her dependency on credit is high.

i.e. using multiple credit cards low credit utilization ratio can be maintained easily. Credit utilization ratio is calculated on each of the cards is calculated separately.

@panchabhut

Credit Score is impacted by credit usage, how much % of CL is used up, payment history
Seeking more cards means more credit hungry but that fact alone is never checked. It is judged with limit utilised across cards.
So just getting another cards isn’t credit score spoiler without seeing other facts. There are few more facts too.

Yes, exactly.

@panchabhut This aspect of applying for new credit cards was discussed and addressed in the thread from PKP and even another thread two years ago. https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/...

That’s the opposite of the reality, bro.

In fact, SCB has a very rewarding referral scheme for loans (not sure of the current scheme for credit cards, if any).

Among the others, Citi has been notably offering 2K per successful referral for many years. Amex’s member-get-member (mgm) scheme is also rewarding.

I have their Jet Sapphiro (Amex+Visa) cards currently. But some people also like their category specific program for the lower-fee Rubyx Amex as well.

Keeping only 1-2 card in wallet and rest at home.Using it when any offer is coming. Once bill is generated give online instruction to pay 3 days before due date. It is simple. except RBL, Amex and SBI all card is life time free.

Using card since 2007 and never been defaulter. Using card only if I have amount in my saving account. It is only way to use credit card properly.
