I have also got the same laptop which Rockstar mentioned for development purposes. And felt that Air hasn’t given me any problems yet. I prefer air because of weight and mobility issues but there will be some who prefer pro so this is basically your choice.

But everything works on Air as well like Sublime, phpstorm, etc. IDE’s usually take most of the resources.

Used a MacBook Air for more than 3 years before moving a Retina Pro. The current gen of Air models are very much capable of handling large apps but what I doubt is it’s capability when the data is intensive.

@ other MacBook Air owners. Did you try using a large photoshop file? Did you try processing a huge set of data running into several GBs in your code with your MacBook Air? How was the performance?

Back in 2009 when I was almost about to get done with my MS I realised how a desktop with high processing power helped run the program much quicker when I had to deal with large data sets.

So if you are a programer who will face such situations I recommend getting a Retina Pro else settle down with Air.

Also, do note that new gen Macs are rumoured to launch by Mid November with much better specs, it’s a refresh long due!
